What difference did he make?
If the story had never been fabricated, would be any the worse off?

1 I have read the Bible, and I didn't see anything about a chav. Actually I don't know what a chav is, like the judge who...
2 I did not know that Christians think that human blood is necessary for atonement, although they have done some very bloodthirsty things.

How did he defeat death? It still seems to be around.

Some of you seem to want it both ways. It seems to have been a good idea for him to get killed, according to what you say.
All the animals slaughtered inn the OT is one thing, after all, most people eat meat. But if you say that a man died instead of all that, you are propounding human sacrifice.

Yes, I've wondered that. I would have expected allot more positive things and allot less negative things had he been the son of God. That the man existed I am certain but see no evidence of him being God incarnate or the son of God. The Christians have done a pretty crap job supporting that idea. No offense meant.

He didn't. If he had saved us, why would god make us go through life to find him? It makes me laugh how so little is written about Jesus at the time (if at all), making him at most a troublemaker for the Romans. Considering how far we have come with the internet, global commuications etc etc, it seems ridiculous that someone so important to the human race came down to earth, spoke to a few, isolated individuals and then died insignificantly along with two common criminals. Surely a god would have made a slightly bigger thing about his or her only son? It is interesting to note that it was humans who started writing about it all and compiling the Bible. Did god not know about neon signs, TV or even flyers?

If Christ had not been the Son of God and gone through with crucifixion, the darkness in this world would be immensely grater than it presently is. In fact, humanity would be so lawless by now, so entropic in its gravitational slide towards 'anomia', life wouldn't be worth living. Christ is the light of the world and although that light was almost snuffed out when he was crucified, he rose from the dead and now billions of 'lights' lighten our world in the form of Christians. Take away all the Christians and you'll soon discover the difference. And before anyone chortles, "Yes, there will be no more wars or verbal slanging matches on this site..." that chap warned us that men's hearts will fail them for fear of what's coming on the inhabited earth, for the powers of heaven will be shaken when he returns in power and great glory. That's when the difference will be understood by those who have mocked.

When you sin, you are separated from God. The only way to return is for blood to be shed. In the OT, the Israelites were required to slaughter and sacrifice sheep and goats and bulls and whatnot in huge numbers. Jesus came as the symbolic lamb. Since he was human, His death was accepted by God as the eternal sacrifice. By his shed blood, all mankind's sins are covered. In this He defeated sin for those who accept it. When He rose from the dead 3 days later, He defeated death for us all.
Read The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel if you want more detail on the accuracy of the story and the historical reliability. There is plenty of proof for His life and diety using outside sources. The methods used to determine anything in history are used to prove Jesus' life death and resurrection. If you really want truth, give this book a try. If you'd rather continue to believe the easy path, don't read it.

I thought you said Chav too! hehehe
The bloke got nailed up to cancel out the first sin which was done by Adam and Eve which was one so bad it could only be repreaved through a sacrifice. So God aparently loves us all so much that he let his own son be sacrificed by us, so that we could be fogiven, but not only of this sin, but all of the sins we would ever do,, aparently! Bothered? Face? Do I look bothered? Sin? Jesus? AM I BOTHERED?!!!!!

NO difference whatsoever. Full stop.
Humans have been around a lot longer, living in civilised societies (Romans, Egyptians) living, loving, killing, dying, than when Christ was around. 2000 years is a drop in the ocean compared to how long we have been around. Christianity is no less a cult today than Scientology or any other wacky group.

Well his dad, being of the psychotic, drooling bloodthirsty persuasion, despite having wiped out the entire human race except for one sycophant and his family once before, still would not forgive people for the fact that someone ate an apple thousands of years before, until he was appeased by a human blood sacrifice. A lot of xtians just don't get that - it was GOD Jesus was saving us from, if you read the scriptures!
Lovely wholesome family stuff, the bible!

When you speak of Jesus Christ and his Sacrifice, you speak of spiritual salvation. Of course, if you don't believe in Jesus, or in God, it wouldn't make much sense or difference to you.
First of all--we all make mistakes, don't we? We all do things that are wrong from time to time--we sin. That's human nature--no one is perfect.
Well, the laws of the Universe dictate that for every action, there is a reaction or consequence. For every law broken, there must be a punishment. It is with these laws that God holds the whole Universe together. If he did not enforce his own laws, everything would be chaos. Does that make sense? If He does not demand that you be obedient to his laws, then why should Nature, the Solar System, or the whole Universe maintain its proper order? They all must obey the laws of God. So, again, in order to maintain order, Justice demands that all creatures that do no obey the Law must be punished.
So where does that leave us? How many times daily do we break the laws of God? Even the most righteous, saintly person is going to sin many times in their life! According to the demands of Justice, every person must suffer for their sins--they have to serve their sentence, do their time. What a terrible thought!
Now, this is not because God likes to see us suffer. It is just a necessary requirement of how the Universe works--to maintain order. God loves us and does NOT want to see us suffer. But he is bound by his own laws. However, that is where his plan of Mercy comes in!
God's beloved Son, Jesus Christ, volunteered to come down to Earth, to suffer and die on the Cross in order to satisfy the demands of Justice. He was the only perfect man to walk the Earth, and his undeserved death was enough to pay the price for ALL of our sins.
Its like this--lets say that you borrow $10000 from a creditor, with the stipulation that you have to pay it back by December 31st, or you will go to jail. Well, you enjoy using the money, but then the last day comes around and you don't have enough money to pay him back. Unfortunately, the law states that you must go to prison. Do you have any way out? Well, perhaps if your rich uncle steps in and says that he will pay the debt back for you so that you don't have to go to jail. That way, you are free and the creditor is paid and everyone is happy. The only thing that your uncle asks of you in repayment is that you now work for him and be loyal to him.
This is how Jesus and his sacrifice works for us. Jesus, through his suffering, has paid the price for our sins. By believing in him and "working" for him, you can be free from the price you would naturally have to pay for your sins.
However, if we reject Christ and his loving sacrifice, then it will be as if he had done nothing for us. If you tell your rich uncle to buzz off, that you can take care of yourself, how will he pay your debt for you? Get the point? It makes a lot of difference, and we would be much worse off, in the eternal perspective, if Jesus Christ had not come and done what he did.

Because God is the one who needed to come down to earth and save mankind from their sins...
Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin
More importantly....He also needed to defeat death...which He did...praise God. Without the resurrection, all of our preaching is in vain (1 Cor 15)
