I have found, generally, that most atheists are as ignorant and silly as are most believers in religion. These boards are evidence enough for that.
Whether most are better educated or not I cannot answer with any knowledge, but again if they are, it generally does not show.

Not based upon the information they provide here! All they prove is that they are JUST as brainwashed as fundies or have never read a book.
For example, 80% of the Christian world accepts evolution as being somewhat factual. But they don't accept ACCIDENTAL creation.
Yet the evolution issue is brought up all the time.
Many like to cite that everything was created by the Big Bang, but what they don't realize is that Big Bang was Postulated by a Catholic Priest.

nicely.... specific... yet that would not propose (as some could opt to declare) that there is a causal relationship between practise and atheism. frequently, maximum atheists come from first international international locations. First international international locations tend to have particularly good training and mandatory practise for toddlers as much as a undeniable age. The a million.2 billion Catholics in the international are unfolded around the full international, from first international international locations to third international international locations. needless to say, many of the Catholics in the third international are not fairly nicely knowledgeable (a minimum of via 'our' standards). because of this, specific, the traditional practise point of all Atheists is greater than the traditional practise point of all Catholics. to characteristic on your checklist, whether. Mendel, father of Genetics advance right into a monk as advance into Copernicus, who advance into the 1st to describe the earth as revolving around the solar.

I just think they like to think of themselves that way to make them feel better about being an athiest. I kind of felt that way too when I was an athiest. It would certainly make sense to feel that way.
Interestingly, Pope John Paul II had 3 Ph.d's and spoke 20 something languages. So he was pretty well educated.

Atheists aren't given a better education by default but those people who do receive a good education are more likely to become atheists as they have learned to think logically and question that which they find ridiculous.

The atheists I know in person are better educated than I (in some fields). Most atheists on R&S don't seem to be.

You ask the question, then in a sense try to answer it yourself by using negative examples. But the correct answer is yes, because as a result of their education they have become atheists.

Even if, on *average*, atheists were not generally better educated, it has already been shown that better educated people tend to be atheists.
There's a big difference, but it's true.

While I have come from a poor family, it has been pretty impossible for me to go to college, but I have greatly self educated myself on many topics.

Yeah, and Earl Boykins proves that all NBA players are short.
I've done both of those jobs. Taking a sixteen-credit load means it's nice to have a job where you don't have to think.
