Hi I was wondering if anyone had some potty training tips for me. My little girl is almost 2 yrs old. Well when she was around 18 months I started to show her the potty and let her sit on it, she was terrified. Well now she is showing interest but she just wont use it. She will pee in the tub and on the floor, but not the potty. She tells me when she needs to go, and we go, but she just wont pee in the darn thing.
Please help, and all your advise is greatly appreciated!!

My 23 month old is going through the same thing!! Try sitting her on it in front of the TV or even with book. Try to distrat her. Sometimes my son hold stuff in the bathroom...bottle of hair gel, toothbrush, as long as you watch them. I know it's very fustrating....

You're pretty early. It may take longer. Every kid is different. It's not uncommon for it to take until they are 3.

No matter what, be patient. You don't want to make her afraid of it again.

While most events should not require bribery... getting rewards for using the potty is a common tactic that works. Let her know what they are when it seems like she's ready. A bigger and better reward for each first... (all the way up to first full week with no accidents).
