find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I was a fat kid at school, so I can really empathise with you. It really sux bad, but there is a lot of help and advice around these days. Everyone says eat less and exercise more, which is good advice as far as it goes, but you and I both know it isn't as easy as that. If you are overweight, you probably don't feel much like exercising, and you have probably developed some less than healthy eating habits.
I think that before you can start the practical side of losing weight, you need to change the way you think - both about yourself and about food and eating. As an example, while I was growing up, I was always told to eat everything on my plate, because 'there are children starving in Africa'. I took me years and years to realise that I DIDN'T have to finish everything on my plate if I didn't feel like it. (I still struggle with this sometimes - it can be hard to break habits you have had for a long time.) You might console yourself after being teased with the thought that the toe rags that made fun of you will most likely end up pumping your petrol one day.
Something else that might help is changing how often you eat. It may sound strange, but eating more often can have the effect of speeding up your metabolism, which can help reduce your weight. Instead of three square meals a day, try having a good breakfast - cereal, eggs, toast, etc, then a small healthy snack every few hours through the day.
Have a talk to a dietician or nutritionist as soon as you can about what sort of foods are good and bad for you, and in what amounts. Also, see if you can find a physical activity you enjoy (even if you are not very good at it - ability doesn't matter at this stage) and try and get really involved in it. Martial arts worked well for me, particularly since I thought of it as learning a skill which could save me from bad guys one day, rather than as exercise to lose weight.
I think the most important thing is to have a positive mindset about losing weight, and get as much support as you possibly can. It's going to be hard, and there are going to be times when you feel like giving up, but keep at it buddy. It will be well worth it. Good luck and good health to ya.

You're very lucky to be so young and want to do something about the extra weight. It is easier to lose weight now than it will be when you're older. You don't have to go on a "diet" just change the way you eat and how much you exercise. Talk to your mom or school nurse about some healthy changes you could make. Write down everything you eat and drink for a few days, and then take your list and figure out how many calories you are consuming. You will probably be surprised that you are eating more calories than you need. Then decide which things you can cut down on or substitute for better choices. Drink water instead of some of your pop. Substitute fruit for candy. Eat some veggies instead of fried potatoes. Also ... the swimming is great exercise. Be sure that each day you get a little exercise in, even if it is only walking for 15 minutes. You will be surprised at how just a few changes in eating and a little more movement will help you lose weight. Get your mom or one of your friends to be your "cheerleader". Tell them you don't want to be criticized when you screw up (you will occasionally screw up), but you want them to give you positive messages and praise for good behaviors. Good luck to you. I know you can do this.

First of all , you have to chill a bit ! Don't start thinking like that .It will only make things worse.Think positive .
Now,what to do ? Well , swimming is a good sport because it works your body a lot.Don't bother thinking about the other idiots making fun of you at school while you are swimming. If you don't want to swim as school then go somewhere else , a pool or something .
You should also join a gym ,and get a good personal trainer .In addition to losing weight , you will also make your whole body healthier with exercise . Best of luck !

If you drink soda and juice, stop. Drinking only water is the fastest and easiest way to lose weight. You probably drink at least 3 glasses of juice or soda everyday. If you cut those out you'll save between 360-500 calories (assuming 120-166 calories per serving). It only takes a 3500 calorie deficit to lose one pound, which you can quickly reach. It will only take 10 days to lose a pound if you assume you drank 3 relatively low calorie drinks each day. Adding exercise will help speed up the process. At your age you should still have gym and recess, so it is easier to add exercise to your daily routine.

One last thought. You don't say how tall you are now or likely to be. I am 6ft tall and weight 165. I wear a size 10. Am I supermodel skinny, no, but do I look good in a bathing suit, hell yes. I'm in a normal and healthy weight range. You should definitely add exercise to your routine, but as you grow taller you may grow into your weight. Just avoid gaining more in the meantime.

All the above answers are good, I would also suggest going for walks around your neighborhood. Start out with walking for 30 min or so a day. Gradually move up to running for 30 min a day, then increase speed and/or time. Excersise is the best thing, but lay off the fat foods too. Eat smaller portions when you do eat. And if you get hungry after 6pm, drink water. Drink a lot of water anyway. It'll clean out your system.

Your right you are young, which is a huge benefit for you... your metabolism is still very active (or has the potential to be at least)... Eat foods that have alot of protein, eggs, meats, cheese, peanut butter, etc... just read labels. Also include alot of fruits and veggies, pick the ones you like and eat them. Limit your carb & sugar intake... no potato chips, candy, sodas, etc... JUNK! And get active anything that gets you moving... if your self concious about exercising in front of others get yourself a 30 min workout video to do in your room or something. Billy Blanks Tae-Bo is excellent! Or just simply walk briskly, don't stroll tho that'll be a waste of your time you've gotta get your heart rate up to burn calories! Hope this helps and good luck!

Or if you can't afford a doctor, there's plenty of literature out there. Go to the library and look for something regarding healthy eating. Exercise is a great way to build and tone muscle and boost your metabolism, but you first have to adjust what you eat.

Try to avoid things cooked in fat (fried), drink water instead of soda, but of course I'm not a doctor, so don't take my word for it. If you have the motivation to lose weight, then half the battle is won.

People come in all sizes and some people are ignorate (dumb) and dont have anything better to do with themselves but to pick on other's. I suggest maybe if you drink soda' then try stoping ,no bread, if you want something with sugar than eat fruit or have ice tea, walking with a family member . who care's what those people say , I bet you later on in life your going to be somebody important and the people who say those ugly thing's will probably be in jail , or unemployed.... Don't let know one get you down.( be stong.)... also talk to your family member's and let them know what's going on swimming is also a good way of trimming up . Good luck from a mother of 6 .....
