find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I know it's a boring answer, but really quick weight loss just isn't good for you. You could really starve yourself for a few weeks but what people say about metabolism is true - you will slow down your metabolism and once you begin eating normally again, you will put back on the weight, and then some extra!
A healthy weight loss is between 0.5 kilograms and 1 kilogram (sorry, I don't know it in pounds, but I think it's approximately 1-2 pounds) per week.
As a first step, I would recommend you to find out what your healthy weight range is, and check whether you really do need to lose weight, and if so, how much. (e.g. there's one on this site http://www.brianmac.demon.co.uk/idealw.htm ) Set some realistic, long term goals for reaching that weight.
Then, get yourself an exercise book to use as a food diary. Each day, write down what you are eating and how many calories (a site like calorieking.com will tell you how many calories are in different foods). This is time-consuming but it's a good way to keep track of and control what you eat, at least until you get the hang of a new eating pattern. Try to eat more vegetables and fruit, avoid unhealthy things like soda, chocolate, chips, etc., but let yourself have a *little* bit sometimes. Make sure you eat a decent amount of protein (helps you feel full and retain muscle) AND carbohydrate (for energy - better if it's brown, like brown bread, brown rice, whole weat pasta etc.). Depending on your height, weight and gender, the number of calories you need will be different. But assuming you are a teenager or older, make sure you eat AT LEAST 1200 calories per day, probably somewhere between 1400 and 2000 is best, depending on your individual situation. If you eat less than this you will end up fatter in the long run.
Also try to get some exercise.
Good luck.

You can only lose 1-2 pounds of fat a week. If you lose more weight than that, it's water weight. Just make a lifestyle change. try the glycemic index. http://www.glycemicindex.com/
also, I recommend hypnotherapy. Try to find a hypnotist near you for help. if you can't, try http://www.stevegjones.com
good luck!
