i noticed it last night... he yelped when i pet him so it obviously hurt and he wouldnt let me touch it.. i looked online and thought it might be a hematoma. But this morning it was gone. he let me touch his ear and it didnt hurt him.
i dont know if i should still take him in to the vet or wait to see if it did just go away. maybe he got bit by something?

his ear was puffy. like its retaining fluid

I aint got a clue what it is or could be but i would take your dog to the vet if i was you.

I would get a hold of the vet anyway, just to make sure there isn't anything serious going on.

could have been a bite or maybe he had something stuck there. he sounds okay now but why not call the vet and see what he says?

I would call or visit the vet. It may be allergies, but get it checked out
