You did exist before you was born, just in different chemical compounds.
They had to unite into the atomical structure you are now.
When you die, those atomical particles will separate and join into another in the future.
The universe is infinite with no beginning and no end.
How could our small minds possibly perceive what existence is after death?
As far as the starving masses, there could be a light at the end of the tunnel if enough people cared.
(And if they would stop spitting out kids when they know Damn well they can't afford to feed and care for them.)

Oh, but you did exist before you were born! Your spirit has always existed. Don't get your physical body confused with your glorified body. When God saw fit for your spirit to inhabit the earth you were born. When you die, your spirit goes back home and your earthly body is what is barried or cremated. As for the starving masses in Africa, I wouldn't just simply say keep the faith. It's about works. What you do to try and feed your fellow mankind. There are starving people all over the world. What are you doing to help within your own community, city, country? Suffering and death are apart of life.

Who says you didn't exist before you were born??? I am not a religious person, but there is a part in the Bible that actually says that God knew you before you came into being (don't ask me to give you chapter and verse....I'm not a religious scholar like that). I remember it from Sunday school when I was little.
Or...if you want to go the scientific route....
Isn't there that rule that says that energy can be neither created or destroyed??? You and your "energy" (what makes you...YOU) didn't just spring up out of nowhere. It had to be transferred to the vessel that is currently housing you (your body!) from somewhere if we are following that rule, right? Then also (still going by that rule) our "energy" has to go somewhere when we die, right? It can't just cease to exist. I don't buy into that whole...released through decomposition crap either because the output couldn't possibly be as great as the energy the source once possessed. I hope that made sense....
So..both things being said...I DO believe that we exist in some form or another BEFORE and AFTER we come into this life.

This life is only a vapor. We have come and gone before you know it. God knew you before the foundations of the world! He loves you so much, he just wants a chance. Our God is a perfect gentleman. He will never force himself upon anyone, he only wishes to be invited sincerely. Have you ever wondered, is there more to this life? What is the point in living, if it is all about going to school- to get a job-to get married-to have a kid-to retire and spend your time enjoying your life when you can't even enjoy it because you can barely get around-to death. Life without hope is in vain. Without hope there is no meaning to your life. Jesus Christ is the greatest phenomenon to ever come across the earth. He is still celebrated widely today after over 2,000 years! Maybe there is more, if you would let there be. As far as the suffering, Jesus mentions in the Beatitudes in Chapter 5 of Mathew your question. There is hope in a hopeless situation, there is peace when the answer is unclear. When you can not understand, just place it in the masters hand, rest within your heart and know, that in JESUS there is always hope! Open up and give him a chance!

So you are saying that because you are not a preincarnate
being you cannot believe in God?
You became a living soul upon your conception. Prior to that
you had not been conceived yet.
What? You think you should have been like a God or something? Only Jesus Christ existed prior to his physical birth. He told some of the religious people of his day " Before Abraham was Iam" at that time they wanted to stone him for 2 reasons....he used the term Iam because that refers to God as when he spoke to Moses he said" Iam that Iam" the other reason was because he was only 30 yrs old when he said that and the jews said" how can you be before Abraham when your only 30?"
So if you think your soul should have existed prior to your conception what happens to your soul after your death?

Good question. The afterlife doesn't really make sense if there is no pre-life! If our soul is immortal, why did it not exist both before and after? That is one of the many reasons that I am proud to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are one of the only (if not the only) church that I know of that believes that every human being existed before they were born in a "pre-mortal existence." The same spirit that will continue on forever after death likewise existed eternally before we were born. The purpose of life is to try to return to God's presence, where we were before we came here. This is an incredible and logical belief.
I agree with you that faith is useless if we do not care for the poor, sick, and weary. I am proud that my church has spent millions in aid, labor, and supplies to help suffering people in Africa. We have provided food supplies, clean water, immunizations, medical supplies and training, educational supplies, wheelchairs, clothing, job training, emergency relief, and more throughout Africa and the world. From 1985 to 2006 Mormon Humanitarian Services provided more than $900 million in total assistance to needy individuals in 163 countries.
I don't say this to brag about my own church. I just feel that this is a good example of following Christ's teachings practically to help solve the world's problems today.

maybe you did exist before you were born. Maybe in your last lifetime you accumulated so many worries, so many bad experiences, so much pain and suffering that God saw it as a blessing to unburden you of those memories and erased your memory completely so that you could be born with a clean slate, so to speak. But your spiritual development started right from where it left off. How else would you explain the wide disparity among people? Some are crude and mean and almost animals, while some are so intelligent and saintly as to be godly.

Science has proven that energy can neither be created or destroyed, so you are right-the "energy" (soul, spirit, whatever) is always around. I do not believe in a personified God (ie: Judaism, Islam, Christianity). I believe in a life force present in all (kind-of like "the force"). With that kind of "being" there would be nothing to blame for famine, etc (ecept us because we are stupid), and there is a force you can tap into for extra energy, etc. I also believe in karma-so do most religions (reap what you sow, etc) and that keeps us ethical. You may want to explore Eastern religions (books by Dalai Lama, etc) JMHO

You have always existed and will always exist. Consciousness is BIG. So big, it can be divided into infinite parts. The part of you that is living this life on earth is not yet aware of this.
There is no need to believe in anything, but it might serve you to believe in yourself. And don't think that you have all of the answers...no one does. The true value is in the question:
Who am I?

Well actually, you didn't exist here before you were born--that's accurate...We are mostly only limited to processing our experiences here in this world....Just because we have no other experiences does not mean they don't exist...Most people can't see atoms or molecules without the right equipment--but they exist. Most people can't look at stars in the sky and determine if they are planets or other celestial bodies without the right equipment...Most people in Europe believed the Earth was flat for centuries, and it's not...It's easy to jump to conclusions about all kinds of stuff...
