NASCAR is king because over the years they've realized that by promoting themselves as more of an entertainment business rather than a pure sport, they can appeal to a wider fan base, not to mention making themselves a more valuable TV commodity. While other series may be more strict in adhering to set rules, NASCAR has not hesitated to alter their rules to make their events more exciting and fan-friendly. While this tends to alienate many racing "purists", it attracts many casual fans who might otherwise have no interest in motor sports. Also, the cars driven in NASCAR races more closely resemble the autos driven on the street everyday by average people, thus the average "man on the street" can more closely identify with what NASCAR drivers are doing.

It may be the most popular in the U.S. but world wide F1 rules.NASCAR is really considered an oddity with true race fans,kind of like mud bogging,or wrestling.
