I eat 20 grams of fat 1000 calories a day and work on the treadmill 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening. So I am burning off almost 1800 calories a day and walking 6 miles. I do set my incline and calorie count. I know this is extreme. What I want to know is can I loose 50 pounds. I am a special event planned for July 6 and I am willing to work hard and do whatever it takes to get there. I do allow my body to rest one day a week where I eat like a normal person. However, I am a vegetarian.

body needs 50cal/hour just for basic functioning (like when you are in coma) and thats 1200cal/day - never go lower than that.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

If you ever want to lose that weight, you need to change your diet; this one won't cut it. Your caloric intake is too much. Ditch the vegetarian diet, it's too fattening. You should eat no more than 4oz if steak and three leaves of salad a day, and only drink water after your work-out. The problem with the workout is that you only do it once a day. I suggest you drop one mile off your morning walk, and take an evening walk of another five miles. Also, a walk, please, you need to do a minimum of a jog, but to achive your goal you need to run.
