By reading their basics, most of it is pretty close to Mormonism.

The biggest differences are More scripture, bapstism and preisthood.

The Methodist church of today is a middle of the road, liberal theology, accept about anything, middle America, Protestant church. If you are looking for a church that will do little to challenge your lifestyle, not teach you the Bible, and make no particular demands on your morality and lifestyle, then they are the perfect church for you.

The denomination has not official stands any anything theology wise, and permits each minister to preach pretty much anything he wants. So you will find a wide range of beliefs being taught from their pulpits. But as a general rule, they are a liberal church.

(Not trying to be insulting, but I spend to many years in the Methodist church - including pastoring one for a time. Am glad to be out of it and into a church that actually teachs the Bible and the relationship with God).

IN my required course in religion at Southern Methodist U., they taught God is not an anthropomorphic creature sitting and watching us from on high, but a natural director of the course of natural events.

I know you can't drink. And they love music. They are usually the more laid back of the denominations. If HAD to go to a Christian Church, I would head to a Methodist one.

My mom is a methodist and they believe in women preachers, and that one can lose salvation. Other than that I think they are same as a baptist. When I went to visit her church they are a dead bunch. I mean spiritualy dead. I don't think the Holy Spirit comes to that church.

I don't really know too much about what Methodists believe.
