Elina,
Do you want to save the planet, or lives? The planet doesn't need to be saved. It needs to be conserved. Humans have a passion of wanting to use up everything they have as fast as they can.
Human nature is not about conservation, just look around you. Notice how many people just throw junk out of their cars, cigarette buts included, and these start fires.
Take a look around you at night, and notice how many people leave lights on in empty rooms, outside lighting, so on.
Take a look around your work place, and see how much energy is wasted there.
Take a look at the huge mansions that some people own, and imagine the 10 thousand dollar a year energy bill it generates. Does anybody need a mansion to live?
Our planet has been damaged beyond saving, we can only try to conserve what is left by protecting it from human nature.

How arrogant. The planet has been around for hundreds of millions of years and will continue quite nicely without humans for millions more.
As to maintaining the climate we've gotten used to in our brief existence here, that is still being looked into. It's a fact of life that species adapt to the prevailing environment, but also that the environment adapts to the species. We can't help making a mark on the planet just by living here. It remains to be seen what, if anything, we can or should do to minimize our impact.
Meanwhile, the old adage is probably still the best course of action: Waste not, want not.

to save ourselves & the things we value, the first step is to be honest about what the issues are, to become aware.
The problems are made by our mind, so our mind has to be engaged to solve them. A lot of the resources of the industrial growth society are devoted to dulling our perceptions, stopping us questioning and challanging how we can continue as we are on a finite interconnected planet
There is a process termed the great turning which has some good methods to help us create a life sustaining society. www.greatturningtimes.org
The planet doesn't need saving, it will continue just fine, and won't care that human civilisation and the beauty we perceive about us is likely to disapear in a very short time.

Man there is a lot of different things we can do, but noone will do them because of how most of us are spoiled with the things that we have. We would have to get rid of all factories, oil rigs, cars, etc. People who only know these things would never give them up. To save our planet we would have to destroy everything and live as the world has just started, with nothing but the clothes on our back...

We need to find better resources that won't pollute the air or harm anyone or anything. First step it the statewide smoking ban! Next step is getting solar powered cars. those will really help the environment. also, diogn small thigns everyday like recycling paper and bottles or reusing thnigs, they can really help. Every time you recycle a paper bag full of paper, you can be saving a tree that would be cut down if that paper wasn't being used to produce more. Take extra time and money to recycle anything you can!

Since it is tough to get governments moving on this issue, we can only change our own lifestyles first. Reduce your energy use by driving slower, using fluorescent or LED bulbs, and combining trips whenever possible. If you have the buck$ (and local laws permit), put up solar panels or a windmill. Use the lowest grade of gas that your car can handle (nonsense to use premium if you don't need it). Change the setting on the thermostat.
These are just a few ideas. If we all take the initiative, we could have a huge effect on our own future.

Nothing. The planet is not in danger. It's just a bunch of alarmist far left wing liberal nut jobs trying to scare the crap out of you. Relax. Enjoy. Take a limo ride or go buy a big boat. Life is good. Don't let 'em scare you and use as much toilet paper as you want when you go poopy. OK?

Look into healing yourself, and start eating your food raw. Practice natures way of health and well being. You will discover that in healing your self, your are directly helping the earth to heal as well. You will discover natural health and well being, just as all the wild animals experience. You will find the natural state of food to be more fulfilling and enjoyable. You will gain unknown health, and have an electro-magnetic alignment with the planet. Clarity of thought will follow like you have never known before. You will waste less water, eating water still in your foods. You will waste less energy, eating food not heated or processed and packaged. Eating organic will preserve knowing you have not contributed to petroleum chemicals being added to your food or our water sources. Eating raw is such a huge step in healing the earth, and we are healed too. Nature should always be followed in example for finding health, as it has always been healthy.

Everyone should plant 12 trees. According to studies, 12 trees can absorb the amount of carbon dioxide each individual exhales in his/her life time. This way, we wont contribute to the CO2 emission problem. We should also save electricity and water and use natural fuels for transportation.
