I know most Atheists believe that Christians are not that smart. Most IQ testing websites quote figures like 90% of the world population is of average to below average intelligence. That would mean that 1 out of 10 people, regardless or religious affiliation are considered to be of superior intellect.
I personally don't know that the level of education has anything to do with how smart you are. You were either born above average or you were not. I know plenty of people that have college degrees with a C to D- grade point average.
I think a lot of it has to do with the way you think. Do you think logically or emotionally? Do you desire to know the answers why, or are you content to go with the flow? Are you a person that desires to avoid conflict, or do you speak up and out? Are you a conformist or a nonconformist? Are you intellectual and spend a lot of time thinking about these things and researching the answers, or are you too busy with day to day life? Do you care what people think about you or are you concerned people won't like you, you won't have friends, will be considered an outcast or not cool?

Some are, some aren't. The ones that are are smart in the usual way, but I say they have a lot of self delusion. The ones that are not smart are because of too much black-and-white yes/no thinking - this is in contrast to unsmart non-believers who are more often likely to be simply lacking in thinking practice overall.
Part of the religious mindset is a belief that a must lead to b must lead to c. This is neccessary to read the bible which is written in absolutes. Those free from religion are also free to explore the grey areas where a can lead to f+j and q/r and back to c.

Your question makes no sense. How would your religious beliefs make you stupid or intelligent? It's totally non-related. There are smart Christians and stupid Christians, just the same as Muslims, Jewish, Bud hist, Atheist, etc.

I have never heard that. It doesn't take brains to believe in God. It takes heart and faith. There are plenty of intelligent atheists too. If it took brains to believe in God then faith would be a flawed system, because then only the intelligent would have a chance to be saved.

have you forgotten all of medieval and renaissance history? nearly all of the great inventors and scientists of that period (and up to 19th and 20th century) were Christians.
of course it's an urban myth. however, there are many people who do not question their own beliefs.

In general.... those who are Christians tend to consider themselves smart. Those who are not Christians tend to think Christians aren't. The same tends to be true no matter what belief you fill into the blank!

Really not important it is not by our wisdom we know God but by his revelation. Christians are people just like anyone else some highly educated others are not.

Myth. They can be educated, but anyone who truly believes that stuff can't be "smart" in my opinion. Sorry.
edit: You need to be able to think for yourself to have street smarts and book smarts.

I have never put "smart" and "christians" together. I'm not saying they aren't smart, I saying they aren't smart by virtue of being christians. Smart and stupid people come in all sorts.
