I'm NOT asking for details of any horrible event that led up to it (nothing that you're unwilling to share, anyway). I'm just curious who needed to hit rock bottom before they subscribed to their current belief system.

No. Thank God I came to my senses before I hit bottom.

Peace

Well, I grew up in a predominantly Christian family. However, although I believed I never took it seriously. There was not one particular event that made me take it seriously, my life just was not a good one for a long time. I was making wrong decisions, getting into trouble and making a mess out of all of my relationships. In all of this, I felt very strongly that something was missing. That something was Jesus. I had accepted Him as my Savior a long time ago, but never prayed, never read God's Word, and I certainly was not being Christ- like. It wasn't until I recommitted my life to God, that things started turning around. My life is( and this is not an exaggeration) 100% better now. God has blessed my life so much and has used me to bless others. I cannot express to you the joy that I have on a daily basis. My joy comes from having a relationship with God and studying His Word. I use my experiences of the past to witness to others and have a deeper understanding of others when they tell me some of the things that they have done or that they are caught up in.

No. I was leading a pretty wonderful life by anybody's standards. My life with Jesus is much more wonderful.

Having returned from 10 terrific years in central Mexico, I was living with friends on a thoroughbred horse farm. I owned a couple of race horses and had a box at Saratoga and Belmont. I had my own "pets" pasture, where I kept a small flock of Barbados Blackbelly sheep and a llama.

I played tennis 5 days a week and was a USTA umpire when there were tournaments nearby. So I definitely was not desperate when I turned to Jesus.

P.S. I no longer have the above goodies, because I moved on to marry a Christian man. I have much less money, many fewer things. I am truly blessed and very happy.

I didn't come anywhere near rock bottom. I was doing great before. I am doing even better now. I happened on the LDS missionaries and they were able to answer questions I'd had for years. Everything made sense and I could find no contradictions. I asked for and received a witness that I could not deny was the Holy Ghost's approval, and I received it. It was physical, not emotional. I could not deny it, so I converted.

I have hit rock bottom in my life, but to be honest, its what turned me away from religion for a while. I wasn't bitter or anything, it just wasn't working. The faith I have now, found me. I am not fanatical or feel the need to scream it to the masses. Most people have no idea. It just makes me feel better and happier on a day to day basis. And isn't that what its for to begin with.

Not so much "hitting bottom" as having a close call. I always knew what the right path for me was, just a bit unsure of myself. Then an event happened, that woke me up and say "what the hell am I waiting for?"
Hope that helps answer your question.

I hit rock bottom hard for years. I am a recovering alcoholic. There is definitly something or someone out there pulling the strings.Just keep believing in that power and continue asking questions and things will get better. It worked for me.

I would guess that very few people have a crisis and "bottom out" before accepting a particular belief system. They just drift into what they were taught as kids, never really questioning, never doubting. How else do you account for the fact that most people stay with the belief system they were brought up with.

I didn't bottom out, but I had to go through several faiths before I found the one that 1) Made complete sense and 2) Gave me spiritual enlightenment.
I'm a believer in Sanatana Dharma.

Yes.
I guess this is the reason Jesus said that it was hard for a rich man to enter heaven. They "feel" as if they don't need God.
God will use the brokenness of this fallen world to save people.
I came to God when he answered a prayer I had prayed as a child when I was 35. The prayer was about when I was an adult! Freaked me out to say the Least!
Then I got my sorry butt in church!
God is real and he loves you.

I'm one of the 'lucky' ones (or blessed, if you prefer that tone..). I came to faith without hitting rock bottom. And, yes, it was through education, not inherited from my folks, lest anyone should think otherwise.
