There is quite a bit to say about this. Thus look at this HP for a discussion of three related subjects: http://www.bythebible.page.tl/

Subjects: Not Owing to Works & Faith; Christian Good Works ; Once Saved, Always Saved?

We are saved UNTO good works, not BY good works

EPH 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

ROM 3:28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.

Works are result of the fruit of the Holy Spirit within a believer. You can't do good works to get saved; it is the result of being saved.

Romans 2:6 - 9 - " And he will render to each one according to his works: everlasting life to those who are seeking glory and honor and incorruptibleness by endurance in work that is good;  however, for those who are contentious and who disobey the truth but obey unrighteousness there will be wrath and anger, tribulation and distress, upon the soul of every man who works what is injurious, "

Our works have to be good and based on what God expects of us. We pray - Let God's will be done - But what IS God's will? The Bible teaches what his will is, but you have to study it.
