Most people don't have a problem with God. That includes atheists, because they don't believe he exists.
His followers, on the other hand...

I think you're being rather disingenuous in comparing this to an ordinary mortal giving up their son. Or, rather, I think it may lead to conclusions you don't share: how would you react if a group of people had committed a terrible crime and someone comes along and says: "Hey everyone, execute my son instead – he's entirely innocent!"
Would you respect that father? I wouldn't.
Of course, I don't actually believe there is a God who gave his only son in this way. And if I did, I'd be very troubled by the idea of a being who can do anything at all, and chooses to have an innocent mortal tortured to death as a means of giving everyone else salvation.

I would not give up my one and only son,or anyone for that matter. If I was God,meaning I made the rules. And I SINCERELY meant I wanted no one to perish...well,I,m God...POOF!simple as that. I certainly wouldn't go about it in such a bizarre way, where I come down as my own child to be brutalized. Why?He's God. Why not just forgive them already if you truly want no one to perish? Why execute a plan that guarantees that your wish will NOT occur? That's just a stupid plan for a God to come up with.I could do better to show how much I loved the world

I really think its not so much they hate God, its just they want to knows the answers to things that no one has answers for. All the why's when's and how's. And alot of the questions that are remaines unanswered alot of people uses it against God. There are things that we don't understand or have the answers to and we won't have the answers to unless God Himself shows us. We just have to learn to believe and except. I understand what your saying, God gave up His Only Son, only to have Him laughed at mocked, split on and hated, it made God mad, and am sure it made Him hurt as well.If it would have been me that gave up my only it would have hurt and yes I would have been angry.

It's not religion itself, but the way humans teach it. As humans are imperfect, and go to extremes, and become self-righteous and hypocritical toward others. Trying to cover up for their own mistakes by making more out of the mistakes of others than they really are.
Basically, mans religion has given everyone what I call the "Wait till your Father gets Home Complex".
Everybody is afraid and angry because they "think" they are going to get in trouble. "Believers" talk a good game, but watch how easily they turn hostile.

The whole world doesn't hate God.
There are alot of God haters and Christian bashers but, don't fret.... I believe, and there are many others who believe right along with you.... I know it's frustrating but let us lift you up.
Listen to some gospel music today... it'll help while you are doing this ... on this Y/A site .... it helps me... and remember, standing up for God and Jesus, is an amazing thing! It takes love for them and it takes a bashing or two also... but! If the world hates you Jesus said, remember it has hated me 1st!
My reaction would be Justice.
God bless you.....

I think I'd have to re-evaluate my sacrifice. Maybe I made some assumptions that the world valued what I valued. Maybe I made a huge mistake.
By the way, I don't think your question has anything to do with anyone hating god. Nor do I think the world hates god. I'm not religious, and I'm not sure I believe in god, but if god does exist, I certainly wouldn't hate him/her/it.

You are asking me to compare my own flesh and blood with a character in a work of fiction. While this is certainly possible the resultant arguments can only be of a theoretical and speculative nature and are not valid for any other purpose than discussion. It would certainly be unwise to base a life-code on the results.

I wouldn't give up my only child for anything. And I don't believe the world hates God-they just don't all believe the same thing. I certainly don't.

"Hate God".
Uh, right. What's wrong with you?
Why do believers hate the world?
And why do believers like the guy below me think it's okay to lie for their beliefs?
