Here we are in the R & S part of Yahoo, some of us trying to learn something that we don't understand, or giving good answers to help those who have questions about some particular thing relating to God, or Christ or Christianity, or even Spiritualism, and some "well meaning" person just butts in, and gives a stupid answer telling us how stupid Christians are for believing in God or Christ, and announcing to everyone how much knowledge they have, now that they have found the truth! Their truth being that God doesn't exist, or some other derogatory nonsense. I appreciate a personal belief about Atheism, if that is how one actually feels, even tho I don't agree. But to keep seeing, sometimes nasty comments to a sincere question; is getting a bit old!! What do you think?

I'm pretty sure I'll get some of those comments, just by asking this question!

Yes it gets very old.

Sometimes I wonder how many of the so called "atheist" are really atheist.

Why if they don't believe in religion or spirituality are they in this section?

I don't believe in mythology and folklore but I don't hang out in it telling everybody else they are wrong.

I agree the stupid comments that put down someone's religion are rude and even cruel and are getting to be more than just a little boring.

But a reminder to you, R & S is not only for people who "relate to God, or Christ or Christianity". There are many religions in the world and this is the only place Yahoo gives to all religions, just not the Abrahamic religions. And just so you know, these comments go to other religious questions also. I have asked questions about Buddhism and gotten rude comments from Atheists and Christians. It seems like the lack of respect of other people's beliefs is rampent on this Yahoo answer thing.

Lol... my mom thinks it's the worst thing ever when you call a child 'bad'... bad boy, bad girl, etc.... But you're being a mom, and you're doing things your way... and preventing your son from throwing tantrums. regardless of age, he needs to know that he can't get away with that and his behavior is unacceptable. your mom is being a gramma... and defending her little baby boy... it'll happen the rest of his life... in that situation you have to tell your mom to stay out of it unfortunately. and no, not all boys act like this all the time. do toddlers and kids have tantrums and misbehave? of course. do they do things to test you? all the time... that's when parenting comes into play... which is exactly why you did what you did. if it's effective, then you did the right thing. good luck and just think of how it's going to be when he hits his 2's... :)

What did Jesus do when he was heckled? The Bible warns you that Christians will suffer persecution, a little heckling is nothing. I share your frustration though, its not just in the religion section. I have a question wating an answer, I have three answers already that all say "I don't know" and guess what, one of them will end up getting best answer for not answering my question, and someone who MIGHT have had the answer will not answer because they see I already have three answers, and assume I have what I need.

It sucks, but I just keep reporting people like that, and hopefully the problem will correct, or at least be maintained by more of these people being kicked off after too many violations.

the thing is, i could say the same about you with some of your comments. christians announce to the world how much they "know" their god and how they have found the "truth", as much as non-believers do.

you say that saying god doesnt exist is nonsense and derogatory, yet you are doing the same thing to non-believers by saying its derogatory nonsense. they state their opinion and you state yours. calling answers that are against christianity "stupid" isnt very christian-like either.

what is getting "old and tiring" is that christians seem to think they have a monopoly and that this section of yahoo answers is devoted only to christianity or god. its called Religion and Spirituality. not Christianity. all religions, including a lack thereof, are allowed here. that includes wicca, witchcraft, buddhism, hinduism, islam, paganism, bahai'ism, satanism, atheism, agnosticism, deism, christianity, and many others.

I agree with you. I don't see why people have to respond so rudely, or even joke about God. It does get old and tiring. I think they should just answer the question without being rude.

If you think non believers say rude nasty things in the Religion & Spirtuality" section - you should read what so-called Christians and other religous zellots write in the Gay and Lesbian section.
It's not just "old" and "tiring". It is "slanderous, hateful and threatening". I don't remember such behavior being taught in Sunday School.

i find it best to wait till a childish insulting question comes up which is intended to make fun of my beliefs or the beliefs of others - i then post a childish insulting answer which is intended to make fun of their mother - its ridiculous and yes very childish but a great way to turn the tables and have a laugh at the idiots.
i really think everyone should adopt this policy, it would frustrate the imbeciles so much.

I don't think you can change that. It's their way of handling a situation. Some people aren't happy just letting others have their own beliefs or opinions and feel you're wrong if you don't see things their way. It would be so much easier if they just let it go or answered in decent way.

So you are saying we ALL should just praise the lord, shut up , and not be individuals, with individual thoughts and ideas?
I thought that was the WHOLE POINT of Yahoo Q&A!
And a nasty comment or question in YOUR eyes, may be a logical and perfectly good question in everyone elses eyes!
This is Religion and Spirituality, NOT Christians only club!
