Something I have not heard alot about is the positive effect of cutting down on cigarettes.
I have cut down to just having a few cigarettes when I come home from work (around 9) and do not smoke during the weekdays.
I guess on weekends I would smoke more since I am home -gotta be honest with myself on that.
I guess my question is: Are there definite benefits to smoking only a few cigarettes a day as oppossed to being a reguar smoker.
Thanks

I believe it's much better giving your lungs a break throughout the week and just smoking on the weekends. If you can taper off even further it would certainly help. I know that the lungs can recover when they are not being constantly irritated. So keep up the good work.

All in all you would be better off quitting, but I'm sure you've heard that one before. And I would be willing to bet I'm not the first one to tell you that here. As a recent X-smoker, I highly recommend the new drug that is on the market here in the US called Chantix. It had me smoke free in just over 3 weeks. And I was a 2-pack a day smoker when I started taking it. Now, insurance does not pay for it. However, it is well worth the $100 (on average) price tag attached to it for a month's supply.

However, a little is better than a lot, but it's still not "good".

By the way, there is no such thing as "Naturopathic" medicine.

Good job on reducing the smoking! It's very hard.

Smoking less is good, will reduce your chances of getting sick. Obviously, quitting will reduce your chances even more. It takes many years of not-smoking to clear you for never getting cancer. So the sooner the better, for quitting.

It took me months to go from a pack and a half a day of cigs, to like two cigs a day. Then it took me YEARS to take the last step, and quit totally. I'm pretty proud of myself for quitting. Seven years ago, May 1st, 2000.

The only benefit in smoking less is the amount of money you'll spend for cigarettes. You're best bet is to quite and your health will be better and your pocketbook will be bigger.

The less you smoke the less your chances of cancer from smoking.

It is more of a matter of how much you smoke rather than smoking or not smoking.

The dose alone makes the poison. Not smoking at all makes the least amount of poison.

The amount you smoke will be the most significant factor in how badly you health is ruined.

Quit while you can.
