Doubt everything, question every thing and find your own path

This is what Gautama Buddha thought his followers

Dont you think this is what parents should be teaching the children other than any religious doctrine?

Yes. I think if something is "true" then it has nothing to fear from an honest examination.

What is the point of a life, if it's lived in fear - too scared to look into the religious taboos.

Parents most likely do knot know these things themselves.
Parents do not teach their children very much at all.
Parents use training techniques not teaching techniques.
Parents are too busy to be bothered teaching the children and let the schools do it.
Parents sometimes do a good job and are to be commended for it. Most do not though.

Even manors are not taught now.

It's just words, it could have been worse, he could have said S***. but that would be socially unacceptable and although I don't use the 'S' word to me its a just another word. Obviously the child using the word poop is what he's been taught. At this time in his life he probably has not been taught that he should differentiate between urinate and bowel movement. (If that's the proper word) To be honest if I heard a child say to his mother "Mother, I perceive that I'm going to have a bowel movement" I would be a bit concerned. 'Words' We once had a dog (Butch) and Butch got loose one day (a rare occurrence) and pooped on the someones lawn on the next block. This guy called the police and the police came to the door asking if this was our dog and told my mother that Butch "defecated" (pooped) on this guys lawn. My poor mother was all concerned because she didn't know what he meant by 'defecated'. So I ask, do dogs poop or do they defecate? If they defecate is that the same as a bowel movement? I'm getting confused what should I say? I'd cut the kid a little slack and let him poop. I'm 53 and I still poop, but I don't S***! But, I always do it in the lavatory. A rose by any other name... What???

Its okay to question things because that's how you learn things.God never said don't ask questions. However Parents are there to teach there kids about God and the world and right and wrong.God use Parents. Its okay as a Christian to know what other religions is about. This will help you to understand your own religion better. And then you are also more knowlegable to debate about God etc.Qeustions are important so that one day when your kids have to answer their kids's questions they already got the right answer from you.

No, I sure don't. I am a Christian, my children will eventually make their own decision. Until then I need to give them as much information as I can that is Godly sound advice. My family including my son has chosen to believe as we do, not because we were made to but because we want to. As a parent you do the best you can but the final say is from the child on this...

Yes I do ime 14 and totaly agree because I do that but unfortianetly you will get in trouble for that at school if you question everything the teacher said trust me I have tryed it so yes it is a good thing to each your children but teach them to do it in the right place at the right time as it can get them in trouble in school and over places

Well, you obviously don't know anything about Buddhism.

Judging from your pseudonym, you are Muslim, correct?

What would you say if you read this question here:

"Do you think parents should teach their children to kill everyone who is different from them in any way? That's what Mohamed taught!"

Wouldn't you say that is an incorrect view of Islam, so the question itself has no merit?

Thus, your question has no merit.

EDIT:

If you are Muslim or not is not the point- the point is you know nothing of Buddhism, yet sit in judgement of it.

That's what I plan on teaching my children. If they have questioned everything before they settle on their beliefs, I will be happy with whatever they choose (so long as it's not hurting them or anyone else). Those that have blind faith because it's what they were raised to believe need to use their brains...I'm not saying it is wrong to believe what they do, they just need to come to that conclusion themselves.

No, if you hold your kids on a leash like that they'll never have a chance to live. Its fun to do things without knowing what is going to happen. Of course be cautious but not too cautious!! But you should teach your kids to find their own path, unless it really is the wrong path - like prostitution, drugs, etc...

That is a teaching for adults. Children should be taught to be moral, respectful and well-behaved, plenty of time to be questioning things when they're 18.
