Protein
Boneless skinless chicken breasts
Egg Beaters
Tuna fish in water, use low fat ranch and mustard instead of mayo
Fish, use lemon seasoning instead of butter
Legumes-Beans are a great source of protein and fiber
Veggies for your carb intake, you need carbs, but good ones, NOT chips!
Try to limit your cheese intake, it is very fattening, but make sure you supplement dairy with milk, yogurt, cottage cheese (low fat)
Nuts are great too, Almonds are really good for you, but only a handful for a "snack"
Fruits and Veggies are important, Broccoli, Spinach, remember dark green is better in veggies. Apples for fiber, and oranges for vitamin C. Pineapple is also a great one for nutrients and aids in weight loss.
If you choose pasta, use whole grain pasta or wheat pasta. Make sure your sauce is either homemade, or a low sodium sauce, use sparingly, or use a balsamic vinaigrette instead, past with this is really yummy. Make sure it is low fat, Paul Newman has an excellent one in the salad dressing aisle.
You probably already know what to stay away from. Fast food, too much meat, french fries, chips, heavy cream sauces, Chips and dips, Too much bread, Butter, Mayo, Sodas, Sugar, Pizza, (You can make a great pizza with tortillas instead of pizza dough, its thinner and crispier, and really good. You bake it the same way, but keep an eye on it so that the tortilla does not burn in the oven, as it will cook quicker than dough)

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein for dinner (lean meat, legumes, fish, soy products) - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
