O.K. I will really answer your question and not cast judgment or criticize you. Yes I was embarrassed. Every time I had to go to the OB\GYN and when I delivered I was embarrassed I don't care how many they have seen they haven't seen mine!! I also wore pantyhose because I was comfortable that way. The most embarrassing for me was for them to change and shave me(c-section). But you'll be fine it is a blessing and when its over you have a beautiful baby to hold. Good luck.

Grow up! Hugely pregnant women rarely wear panty hose. There is nothing Ugh about having a baby. Women in this situation are mature enough to deal with the experience without embarrassment. They are very focused on the job at hand.

I was embarassed at first (similar to going for my yearly check up with my ob/gyn--no matter how long you've been going to the doctor, it's still embarassing to have your legs spread wide in front of him/her, lol). However, after having several doctors and nurses check my cervix, break my water, feel around, etc., eventually the pain of the contractions and the fact that everyone and his brother has seen my crotch makes it not embarassing at all. When you're giving birth, having anyone see you naked is the least of your concerns. :) And it's not as if they're there to give your female reproductive organs a thorough examination and compare them with others; and it's not like they've never seen a vagina before. :)

Everyone in the delivery area has helped with so many deliveries that each person is not even noticed when they are naked. After bearing 5 children I know this for sure! They are worried about delivering a healthy baby, not about whether or not your hiney is cute!

I have never given birth but have been through many fertility treatment and from what i have been told is
1. by the time you get to delivery you have spread them for many medical people and over time it jus tbecomes part of your medical procedures.
2. by the time you get that far in your pregnancy i have been told all you want is to get that kid out so you will let most anyone do what they need to do to make that happen.
So i am sure embarrased at that moment is not even thought of. now you may be emarrassed after the fact when you have time to think about it.

Who wears pantyhose when they are pregnant? When I was pregnant (both times) by the end I was just ready to be done. I could never get comfortable (even in the swimming pool) and I was sick of not being able to reach my toes. Besides every doctor and nurse I had was professional and caring. This is their job. Every person on the planet came here the same way so what is there to be embarrassed about?

When you're at the point of delivering your baby, all thoughts of shame at having a stranger or strangers see you in your birthday suit fly away. You don't have time to think of how embarrassing it can be for you because all your attention is riveted to the fact that anytime soon, the baby will come out and you have to do your all to help it come out just as quickly.

You know after 7-9 months of that doctor poking and prodding my tummy every few weeks and then a few weeks of weekly cervix checks, (btw- ever hear of an internal ultrasound?), by the time we went to have the baby embarrassment was way back in my mind.. by the time they had to do an emergency c-section after 13 hours of hard labor it was no where to be found. (And to do a c-section you have to have a catheter put in your bladder, ever have one of those?)

It's not embarrassing. The doctors have seen it all before. Also, most women are in so much pain, they wouldn't care if it was broadcast on the five o'clock national news.
