You're right, they are bad; but people take the risk (that they won't do body harm) because the ones in body-building magazines are anabolic steroids, not corticosteroids.
Still very risky as they (anabolic steroids) can cause tumors and cancers; from one who's body has been ravaged by corticosteroids that were prescribed for medical use.
If you can avoid steroids, anabolic or cortico; DO. Being a better athlete isn't worth the temporary benefits you might get.

Advertisements--Print, radio or TV--are not meant for the logical thinker. They're for the gullible lemmings who will see the ad and think that if the company says so, it must be so. Example: Some foods try and pass themselves off as healthy, but have listings of corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, fully or partially hydrogenated oils, etc. DanActive advertises that they help regulate one's digestive system. Well, some of the commercials also show what the person is doing to get the irregularity-- Poor self care and diet. Gee, I'm not a nutritionist or doctor, but I take care of myself and eat very well and I have no troubles. (Besides, it being dairy yogurt, I'm not going to get it anyway.)

what muscle magazines are you reading?? i subscribe to FLEX and have never seen a single add for steroids, perhaps you should get a different magazine if the one you read is advertising steroids. i would have to imagine there is not a single article in that magazine worth reading if that is the case. any reputable magazine company who knows and understands the repercussions of steroid use would not publish advertisements for them.

For the gullible and for those who don't care what happens to them in the long run.
