I have never really been a *cat* person, yet my hubby loves cats of any kind.
My mother in law lives with us, and her cat *Penny* went missing, so we started a major search for her, a day later we heard a faint sound coming from the wall (between the cottage and neighbours garage). Hubby jumps up onto the roof, (thankfully not breaking any legs or arms). The space is a mere 50cm but 3meters down. And we hear meeeoooowwww..but so softly.
Call the animal anti cruelty, they only have a 1.2meter rescue pole. We finally find a long pole with a net at the end we sort of start fishing the kitty out.
No its not Penny, but a two week old kitten. Hubby gives me this *I have to have this kitty* look, down to the vets we go, we name the kitten *Milli* she was then 2 weeks old, yet two days later *Penny* comes back home, they are now only becoming friends, five months later.
So how did your Kitty become part of your family?

That's such a beautiful story, thanks for sharing :)
I was walking home and heard a tiny "mew! mew!" from up a tree. I looked and there was the most pretty fluffy teeny kitten I'd ever seen. (she turned out to be a pedigree Norwegian Forest cat - pretty posh for a stray) I helped her down the tree but instead of toddling off to her home she pounced along beside me for 2 blocks to my home. So I carried her back to the tree... and she followed me home again!
I only had soy milk and tofu in the house (bad choice, kitty) so had nothing to give her. Boyfriend who was a vegan-militant-from-hell-type came home and saw this innocent little face peer out from behind the kitchen bin and he just MELTED into a puddle into the floor and said "oh can we keep her please - I'll go buy some fresh chicken and salmon and mince and milk right now". And that's what Madame ate happily for ever after. hehehe

I adopted my kitty at the local humane society. I've always had a cat since I was a little girl, and when I moved in with my boyfriend I didn't have one anymore. (My old cat stayed with my parents because we thought the move would be hard on him.) After about 3 months of no pets, I started to really NEED a kitty. My boyfriend had never had one before, so I let him help pick him out. We got a 10-week-old tabby and my boyfriend instantly fell in love. The kitten's first night, we shut him in the bathroom with his things, his litter box, food, etc, so he wouldnt get lost or into anything dangerous. He cried for a few minutes and as soon as my boyfriend heard him, he went to the kitty and rocked him on the bathroom floor. (I tried to explain that kitties don't need to be rocked, but he didn't seem to care.)
Now we have that first kitty, Scooter, and a Boxer puppy we got at Christmas time. Scooter just turned one, so we are thinking it's a good time to adopt another baby. Next weekend I'll be visiting the local animal shelters to find my new buddy.

My outdoor cat was found about 7 years ago at a lake. Someone had dumped two little kittens there and my nephew brought them to me. I had them as outdoor cats. One disapppeared about 3 years latter. I think a coyote got it. The other one I still have. he is a great mouser. This cat has led a blessed life. Another time he disappeared for about three weeks. I thought he was dead. One night I get a knock on the door. A woman had a pet carrier and aked if this cat was mine. Low and behold it was. She said three weks ago it was hit by a car and she saw it layingby the road so she took it to the vet and then nursed it back to health. Then not knowing who the owner was she went up and down the streets to each house. What an amazing woman. She spent over $150 on the vet bill and never knew if she would find the owner of the cat. The cat today walks with a slight limp but is still here thanks to a good samaritan.

My husband and I are the opposite, I love cats and he well doesn't. We got our first cat, Jabba, which he didn't want almost 2 years ago. We got him because I was staying home at the time and he was constantly working and I was lonely, so we got this cat for me. About 6 months later we get a 2nd cat, Tippy, because we just found out I had a miscarrage, so we get a 2nd to make me feel better, it did work too. Now at this time, Jabba and my husband are best friends, my husband loves this cat so much, even though he isn't a 'cat' person. Then 3 weeks ago we adopted another cat, Solo, just because, lol. We adopted all of the cats from an animal shelter/humaine society. And I love them all, they are my babies... I liked your story, it was really nice of you all to take that little kitten in and I'm glad to hear you got the other cat back as well.

I moved out of my parents' house for the first time in January. I had never lived by myself before and I was a little nervous to be alone in a new city. I was depressed and lonely for the first two months I lived here, and my mom started bugging me to get a cat. I've always been a dog person, plus my boyfriend is allergic to cats. And anyway, my apartment complex charges $200 for a cat! Well, my mom told me that I should at least go look at a kitten that she found in the classified ads. I went to this woman's house armed with a cat carrier (and the receipt for said carrier), saw the little black and brown kitten, and fell in love. She was SO adorable and SO precious that I couldn't resist! My mom paid the pet deposit to my apartment complex, and I told my boyfriend that we'd just have to find a way to deal with his allergies. Two and a half months later, I now have a wonderful little friend named Scarlett who greets me when I walk in the door and is always happy to see me. My boyfriend's allergies don't really flare up around Scarlett and we spend hours playing with her together. I'm glad that I'm not lonely anymore!

I found my cat on the Internet. I saw her picture on the SPCA website and I just had to go see her, she was so cute. My b/f and I went there on our lunch break. I knew if I waited, she'd be adopted because she's so pretty. She's a Siamese/Persian mix, long haired. We visited her, spend some time with her one-on-one in a room, and I couldn't leave her. We adopted her right away. It was the best decision we've ever made!! She makes us laugh daily. We weren't even seriously considering adopting a cat, I was thinking of getting a Himalyan kitten eventually!! My b/f loves cats, so it was an easy decision for us.

My mom was never really a cat person. One day two summers ago, in the middle of July, i remember it was really hot, we were at the grocery store. Out in the parking lot was this little black kitten. She was walking around in circles and sweating, panting like she was going to die. We picked her up and took her over to the car so she wouldn't get run over. We decided to take her home just till she got better. Well, she ended up staying with us and being named Kit-Kat and has been my kitty ever since. At first, she was scared of us, i have two younger brothers and it got a little loud sometimes, but she soon became a sweet purring furball.

That's really a cool story. Congrats on finding and saving the kitten!
My husband had 2 cats before I met him and I had a dog. The cats and dog still don't get along, and they've lived together for 5 years!

My two kittens came into my house over two tragic cat deaths. I had two grown males one got run over and my other male was attacked by dogs. I feel bad because my children found the second cat. He was trying to come home and didn't make it. So my children's hearts were broken, and mine. A lady that works with my mother had kittens that she was trying to get rid of. So I took my children to pick there cats. My two sons did well they picked cats very similar to them. They were brother and sister. They didn't even know how to play, we had to teach them and in the process we taught them to be very sociable. That was a task in itself. But the kittens are 7 months old have all there shots and fixed. My sons have done a great job taking care of them.

I wanted a cat so I looked at the ads in the Stars & Stripes (being a military family living in Germany) and this one ad just kind of jumped out at me. So I drove to meet this cat (about an hour away) and she was too cute to leave behind. (Well, I'd probably say that about any cat.) Plus it broke my heart that she was born in 1998 and had already had about 6 different families so I promised her a forever home.
What is so cute is that she looooves me. She follows me around like a puppy. If I'm doing laundry upstairs, she's laying at the top of the stairs "guarding" me. If I'm in the shower, she's laying in the bathroom sink. In the middle of the night if she wakes up downstairs she starts yowling so I'll call out to her so she can find me. (She's never figured out the fact that in the middle of the night I'm always in bed sleeping.) My husband is deployed so she's taken it as her duty to take care of me.
