On family fued, when Bert says "we surveyed 100 people" How would you get to be part of those surveyed people?

mmm, have always wondered this, and more to the point, have always wanted to be one of the hundred! how sad! by the way, i heard a rumour the show has been axed! is it true? god, i hope not.....
p.s after answering this, i had a look at the website and you can answer surveys on there!

sometimes they take the audience and give them a list
sometimes they mail out 200 - and the first hundred back
become the hundred 'surveyed'

It is random - people within the vacinity (the audience, etc.) are the most likely.
