I imagine their attitude is that this is their thing to do.
If they make convert, it's worth all the slammed doors.
Personally, I do not like slamming doors. Either invite them in and launch a boring counter-attack, or tell them you are a Muslim.

Neither. I am one. Quite frankly, especially as dangerous as some areas are, I worry when someone invites me in, as, while I am mostly harmless:D someone else might not be.
I simply am coming to offer to share my beliefs. Usually I have a short conversation with the householder, then either make arrangements to come back, or not, then say have a nice day, and leave.
While we all have our bad days, most people have the manners to not slam their door. Humorously, it seems that the people who do decide to slam the door, are usually the ones with Big Crosses and a warm loving welcome mat:D
EDIT
Answer 10 was funny. We in NO way think we have a chance of going to heavan if we work harder than someone else.
The answerer below is sadly mistaken. Many have/know the love of Christ.

Expect nothing, anymore than the Apostles did when they called on the homes of their Brethren Jews some 1900 years ago. In those days, those they were calling on also had their own religion. They were Jews. They could have left them alone to continue in that mode and not tried to teach them about Jesus.
Just like the Apostles and the first Christians, JWs are hoping to find a person whose heart is questioning the life around them, is seeing all that is bad in the world, how the governments of man is not able to change it, and how perhaps it's time to hand over power to the one whose been chosen by God to lead mankind into a new system, Jesus Christ.
Does this mean that the Watchtower will some how have an integral part in this after Armageddon? No, as there will no longer be a need for it, or any religion, as all the things of old will have passed away.
The question to ask yourself is do you want to be here on Earth to see than change, to see this planet being turned back into a Paradise, and to feel what it was like to be human at the time of the creation?
If your heart is closed to all these things, than that is all you need to say to them. They will check back every six months, as people do change with time, as they gain knowledge and wisdom, and see the days are numbered for this old system.

They are hoping to be welcomed but expecting to have the door slammed in their faces. I just keep them at the door talking round and round in circles until they don't even know their own names. I've never seen the same one twice!

I expect both. I am a Jehovah's Witness. Just like what Sasi mentioned, we are prepared to have doors slammed in our faces but we do have many who shows interestes and we also have households politely inform us they are not interested.

I don't even bother to open the door to them. (nor salesmen, canvassers, or charity collection people)
I don't mind anyone having their own religion, beliefs, etc. but I DON'T want to hear about it, and WON'T be converted from being Atheist.
Why do Jehovah's Witnesses ALWAYS go door-to-door in pairs?

As the time of Jesus and Noah on earth as they preaching about the kingdom and about the flood people are rude and didn't listen.
when Noah was telling about the flood coming do people in his time believe on him?No, and the Bible told us only Noah an his Family who has been save.
and in our days same as Noah's day;
Matthew 24:37-39"Just as the days of Noah's were...they toke no note until the flood came and swept them all away,so the presence of the man will be.
Jehovah's Witnesses taking same Message
2 Thessalonians1:8"He bring vengeance upon those who do not know God(by choice) and those who do not obey the good news about our Lord Jesus.
Zephaniah 2:2,3"Before the anger of Jehovah come upon the earth seek Jehovah all u meek ones, probably you maybe concealed in the day of Jehovah's anger.
going in your door we might save our selves and those who Listen to the message we carry.

I used to be one of them (before I came to my senses), and if you truly do not want them to call on you in the future then just tell them. And they wont call!
I ended up disassociating myself with them when I realised what went on in the congregations. If you think they are all pure, think again! If you think they all have morals, think again! I have to say that some of the nicest people I know are JWs....but the odd thing is that some of the most devious, lowest of the low, scum of the world that I know are also JWs..some of them were also "elders".

They are trained to cope with all eventualities on the doors, except for people showing the love of Christ to them. That's because they think only they have that love! They don't believe you or anyone else could possibly be a Christian. Therefore, the love of Christ should only be found in their ranks. Well, that shouldn't be hard to disprove, should it? "Tea and biscuits, anyone? Oh, and the love of Christ constrains me to point out why your gospel is a false one..."
