Hi Arfurchance. I Just Browsin' from Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA where we are having a chilly morning! Google us and see our fantastic city where anonymous donors gave money so that every student graduating from public school in the next 13 years gets their college tuition paid! We are also known for having in the past made guitars, stoves, Checker cabs, pharmaceuticals, and grown celery! We have fantastic jazz and blues bands playing at our local bars, and we have some beautiful Victorian and Art Deco homes all over town.

Yes, Arfurchance, I have suggested that many times.
Here in Australia its nice to know who you are dealing with. And as I have been to Yorkshire in 2004 I must say its a most delightfull place, If I had half a chance to return I would !!
A person could develop a friendship, with someone if they knew something about where they come from.

Not sure that I agree, as I have lived any number of places, so can give accurate answers that might not reflect on my current location, and as an American you get a lot of people who will shout you down for where you were born. Real life can be rude enough, thanks.
Plus if you are female sometimes you don't want to put too much information out there.

Hi, I'm Laura from Cumbria, UK.
I suppose it's just a case of people worrying about disclosing too much information...

If their location is relevent to the question/answer, they should remember to include it, at the very least.
