He was 10 years old...
He came in from outside to take his nap on the couch, when I went to pet him...he was dead..
I am devastated.
What are my options for the body? I have a full back yard.Thanks....I'm still in shock.

I'm sorry for your loss....you can burry the body in the back yard, or you could take it to the vet and have it creamated.

Good Grief!! how awful for you!!

I think that may be worse in some ways than having to put them to sleep.

I guess you could get your beloved cremated or buried in a pet cemetery.

I am not sure about backyard burial... im in Australia and i think some councils over here have laws etc about that.

Anyway I am so sorry!!

first of all 10 years is good for a cats life but they live for 10 to 18 years Have her cremated but first find out what killed her you might have a sicko on the block.the vet can do a autopsy to find the cause of death.but I would have the cat cremated.I hope o one is putting down antifreeze.and I must say sorry for your lost

There are some other options. When my cat passed away I had her cremated but it can be expensive if you want her creamated by herself and keep the ashes. You can also pay a cheaper ammount if you want to have her body cremated with other animals and not keep the remains. I believe there are also pet cemerteries.

If you wouldn't be afraid to feel bad and break down everytime you see the spot where you bury them in the backyard. Then yeh, maybe burying them in the backyard will make you feel still close to them.

Or else, yes. Pet cemetery.
I'm sorry for your loss.
Take care.

Sorry for your loss.

My suggestion is to bury him in the backyard and plant a flowering shrub over his grave. So when it flowers you will have pleasure from his memory.

I live in Australia and there aren't any by laws against burying your animals in the backyard. You're just not allowed to bury humans in your yard.

You could have him cremated and spread his ashes in his favorite places or under a newly-planted flowering shrub. This is what I did with my dog.
If you bury him in the yard, be sure he is wrapped securely and buried deeply enough not to attract dogs or other animals.
My condolences.

I am so sorry about your kitty.
My cat died in December---I had him cremated and his ashes put into a bronze cat figure. Now, if I move ---he goes with me. I loved him so much and I will never forget him.
You and your kitty are in my thoughts and prayers.
