Would you want to survive this or get killed in the blast?

To all the people that said they want to survive have you never seen Threads, The Day After, etc. I know they are only films but I would imagine it would be 10 times worse than that in real life.

If it were a Global Nuclear war I would rather be vaporized, the planet will be so screwed up that surviving is only a slow death.

I'd like to survive. It's one of the reasons I live on a farm that, if it had to, could support our family.

Most experts agree that all the movies that you mentioned are completely inaccurate as to what post nuclear war would be like. We HAVE had nuclear explosions, even recently. The biggest was the nuclear reactor meltdown in the former Soviet Union. Guess what? Life goes on and people continued their lives. Hooray. Don't get caught up in a "fear fantasy" that was created by hollywood. It's exactly that...a fantasy.

At the point of global suicide, it doesn't matter who is on what side....where you go to hide, or how long you can survive. In a nuclear age the only true enemy is war itself. Better to be vaporised in the initial blast.

The survivors will be in isolated canyons away from the jet streams, isolated south pacific islands...again away from the jet stream, deep silos with provisions for 2 yrs....to outlive the nuclear winter.
