My doctor prescribed Ultram to me for pain. I took it for the first time around 6 hours ago and I am itching, head to toe, like crazy. I experienced this itching sensation with Vicadin before, but not as bad. I just wonder if anyone else itches when they have taken narcotic pain relievers?

If you have severe, incessant itching after taking the Ultram you are probably allergic to it. Stop taking it and call your doctor. Some narcotics cause minor sensations of itching or crawling skin, but it is not like what you describe. And it generally occurs with the stronger pain meds.

Yes I have taken pain medication that has made me itch and I always take one benadryl to help. It works every time. The only narcotic I ever had that seems to be easily prescribed to me is vicodin. I have made care providers aware of it and they then suggest only ibprofen which is not strong enough for the problem I have. So I just deal with it when I have to.

I thought this was just something I experienced! I get it with the pain medication I take, however I would rather scratch than have the pain, so I stick with it. Thanks for posting the question. If you can't stand the itching I would ask the doctor is there is anything else you can try.
Good luck from a fellow itcher...

Sounds like a allergic reaction to me. Especially if you have this itching all over. yes ,I've been itchy with Vicoden myself.

I had the same problem with a drug called Ultracet. You can either reduce you dosage, cut the pill in half (if possible) or call your doctor for another type prescription. It sounds like you are either allergic to it or that the dosage was too much for your body.
