I've been watching the religious channel here in my town and there's some people singing about how the Lord is their Master and a black woman is fronting the song. What does that say? Are you Christians just adverse to having any say over your own lives? How ironic is it that supposed Christians run this supposed democratic country? Isn't democracy supposed to be about deciding for yourself instead of someone else deciding for you?

I'm a slave of Allah (SWT).

From the dictionary definitions, "Master" doesn't just apply to someone who owns slaves, it also applies to those who have employees, servants or anyone else they have the right to command. It also applies to a teacher, or the person in charge.

Those definitions are more accurate, Christians learn from God, are guided by God's teaching and attempt to follow His rules. Where God doesn't give explicit direction, He expects us to make our decisions based on the spirit of His teachings

In a democracy, decisions are based on the choice of the majority, as represented by the politicians we voted for. If you disagree with a democratic choice, such as the mobile ban while driving, you are not free to make your own decision and ignore the law.

To put it simply, yes.

Allah (SWT) is the Lord of the Worlds, Master of the Universe. Everything came from Him and He came from nothing (I mean, He is eternal). Allah (SWT) gave us free will to choose right from wrong and it is our job as his slaves to to serve him and live our lives as he has taught us through the Holy Quran and Praise His Holy name.

You say "slave" like you've caught us in some sort of trap and are willing us to talk are way around it. I won't - you're right:

I am a slave of the Most Merciful, Most Benificent, Master of the Universe, Lord of the World, Allah (Subhana wa taala). And I'm proud.

God does a much bette job running my life than I do. I am a train wreck without him. I am completely content with Him being my master - I wouldn't want it any other way. I have complete control over my life - I choose to hand it over to God if I want it back I can just take it. I make the decisions - God leads me to the right ones.

The religious channel has fakes like Benny Hinn, so I don't watch too much of that channel. I do have a say over my life and Jesus is my Saviour and no one decided this for me.
Anyway your question was kind of hard to understand.

I see you like the hippie look. It kind of reminds me of my Uncle Dave back in the early 1970's

you make a good point. Perhaps "master" is not the most appropriate way to label God. I sort of prefer the term "father" but that in itself sounds sexist.

I however disagree with your argument about christians deciding for themselves, as a atheist you should know that christians very much have a control of their lives as well as have the control to shape God according to their views. Hence the diff sects that believe in different ways of worships and different views on humanity (good, bad, individualistic, conservative, etc.

Some christians vote pro-choice, others pro-life. Sure their religion shapes the way they vote because it shapes their morals... but what's your deal? I mean you have morals also that are shaped by others as that influence you in how you vote.

The Lord is Master of my life, just as sin is your Master. That would make you a slave to sin.

I'm not a slave, I'm a servant. I am called to be a servant of Christ. It's something I do willingly and with full knowledge. A slave has no choice in the matter, he is merely taken and put into service, whether he wants to be or not.

He is the Lord of my life so yea i suppose I am his slave...only difference is in regards to what we usually describe as being a slave I do it willfully, and with joy!

But don't you see, Christians do decide for themselves.

Haven't you? Haven't we all? We all have made our choices, you see. They are just different from yours.

Christians have decided to be Christians.

Christians have decided to try hard to live by a certain moral code, just as you have decided to live by yours.
