If the dog park was leash free and had two dog runns that were double fenced, trash recepticals, feild lighting (for night) some shaded areas, benches, plastic bags so you can pick your dogs poo up, water areas, restrooms, benches and it was required for entrence we have a copy of your dogs yearly vaccinations on file (for others dogs and owners safety). Then maybe for the people there was like some kind snack shop with picnic tables and posts to chain the dog to while you grab a bite to eat and they sold dog treats too outside the runns.
What would you pay for a pass for one day? That would alow you to leave and come back that day and was open from 6am -11 pm .

I've never been to a dog park, and I think some are free, but think it may be the best job in the world to run/own a dog park and some sort of snack /coffee shack.

Yes but at other parks , dongs arn't allowed off leash and you risk the life of your dog or a fine, there may not be other dogs there, if they are you risk your dogs health if your dog or theres have no vaccinations , there are alot of children at public parks..not that there arn't at dog parks, but dogs rule at dog parks and both would need ALOT of supervision with the two.

Yeah... I'd pay for something like that... but I'd want better than a daily fee, maybe a monthly or yearly.
But... you have to be careful about liability issues. If people are paying for it, they're going to expect you to be responsable for any fights that might break out.

Yes, I would. All of the dog parks around here are leash parks only. What point is there to take your dog to a park to walk around on a leash. I want my dog to be able to run and play and socialize. The vaccine thing is great too but you would need some kind of database to enter info into so that every time I wanted to come I didn't need to bring papers. I could just show you my ID or you could sell yearly passes for a cheaper price and than you do not have to bring shot records with you every time.
Make sure you also bann aggressive dogs. You do not want a bully running amuck in there.
For one day around $10 per dog or $15 per owner up to 3 dogs sounds about right. You would also be making money off the snacks and such. You should have a dog treat snack shop too. How cute.
A yearly pass would be great for about $500(for one dog and $100 more per dog per year). So after a trip a week it would pay for itself. With a yearly pass I would come at least twice a week and I would more than likely buy at least a drink and a little treat for my babies. So in a year for my two dogs it would cost about $1250. $2 fountain drink and $4-5 snack for puppy. Sounds like a great business plan.

Just leave my dog there? Unattended? Never.
Nope, i would not pay for a dog park. I've seen more fights in parks! Most often around picnic tables or when people bring treats into the park.
Perhaps if the rules were enforced I might pay a nomial fee. But I would expect the ENTIRE thing to be fenced, with 6 foot fences. I'd also expect it to be open AFTER 11:00 pm, in the summer its only really cool enough for my big dog to run happily after 11:00 pm. At my old park, there were about 6-8 dogs everynight in the summer who only showed up at 11:00 pm.
All the dog parks I've been in have had water in the park or very close by. They also usually have a community bulletin board with a recepticle for people to bring and put bags in.

NYC has public dog parks and neighborhood dog parks. The public dog parks don't require an entry fee, but the few neighborhood parks I've come by do (something like $15 for annual access, which is paid when you get a key to the run). The public parks usually use fundraising and dog friendly events to help cover their maintenance costs, but those parks are usually more poorly kept than neighborhood dog runs. For instance, the neighborhood dog park is landscaped and has grass with high fencing to keep the dogs inside and away from the street. The public dog park nearby has dangerously low fencing and pebble flooring (the fencing is more of an issue since so many dogs are able to jump out).

I go to a dog park, almost daily.
It is fensed off and gated. It is property owned by a church. They graciously let the commuity use it. Once a year we take a collection to donate money to the church to help pay for watering the area. Which btw is expensive.
My dog was afraid of people and other dogs. Now he loves it. I get in a good walk while he plays with his doggie friends.
I have never heard of a dog park as a business, but it sounds like a good idea. But, you would have to consider the expenses......water the grass might cost more than $1,000 hot months of the year. Lawn up keep. The biggest expense would be insurance. You get one dog who bites a little kid and you are sued up the wazoo. The other day I was standing in the middle of the field when a bunch of big dogs went running by and a 120lb dog bumped in to the side of my upper leg. It was like a full body whiplash. I swear he could of killed me if he had hit me head on.
My neck hurt, my knee hurt and my back hurt. I reallly was worried that I might have long term injuries. If I had I might of sued the place.
So much can happen if you are responsible for a place like that.
I personally wouldn't pay.
I imagine this would be sort of like people joining a gym. People get interested, then don't have the time It is fun at first but life gets in the way. And they go less and less.
You could try it, but you would probably have to fight town hall to get permits for it and people who live around it might not be happy around it.
If it works, good luck.

I would pay for a dog park like that. The amount? Probably the cost of a monthly gym membership about $25 - $35 a month. People that love their dogs will pay that, just for peace of mind. I've been to free dog parks and I always worried that other people didn't vaccinate their dogs like they were supposed to. The daily rate thing wouldn't work too well for the business owner. It sounds like a great idea, now all you need is a business plan.

It would depend on whether a free, pleasant park was available nearby or not. Obviously if there were nothing but paved streets around this idea would have appeal, especially in a city where dogs are not allowed off-leash. I would consider paying 2 us$ for a day, i.e. a month pass for about 60 bucks. You have to remember a lot of urban areas provide this service for free, and you'd probably have to get health inspection permits to run a snack shop for humans with lots of doggies around and liability insurance, etc.

I live in a city where we have a lot of absolutely wonderful, free, off-leash dog park. Some are by the river and have doggie "beaches" where the dogs all go for a swim and paly chase in the water. When I go there, I swear I wish I was a dog! One of them even has a small concession stand where you can buy coffee, juice, snacks, and of course dog biscuits.
It's such a great thing to have that I'm sure people would pay for it if they didn't have one for free. Heck, if they started charging me, I wouldn't stop going! (I'm be mad, but I'd still go...)
But I must say to all dog owners out there, mobilize, and insist your cities provide these kinds of amenities everywhere! For free!

I dont use the doggy parks because of the morons that sometimes go there . 1. the ppl let their dogs run around willy nilly without shots 2. their dogs start something and bites your dog they usually leave without saying so much as an Im sorry.3.My dogs come home with fleas because some moron decided he or she did not want to spend the money for flea control on their dog . no thank you . I will walk them in the regular park . I for one hate dog parks!!!!

I say it sounds like I GREAT idea...being the proud Mommy of two dogs I would love to have an environment like that where I knew the other dogs had been vacinated. It would make it much more comfortable for me to be able to be there for log periods of time...which they would love (we live in a condo with not yard so daily walks and trips to the dog park are mandatory) Just be sure if you do this you have a buisness insurance to cover you...people are sue happy...my dog ate a piece of poo and got sick its your fault...protect yoursef...I would buy a years pass to a dog park like yours
