People like you make me sick.
You are breaking the law, then you get busted and whine it wasn't fair.

I've done a great deal of research about this and can probably help you with it. I would need to know a few more things. First and foremost, what state are you in? Secondly, before he started to search your car did he ask you for permission, had you been ticketed or arrested? Thirdly, what type of paraphernalia was found and where was it located. After I know that I can probably help give you ideas where to start. If you'd like you can email me. Good luck.

Too much information left out....did your sticker fall off? If it did, or was dirty (not visible) that is okay reason to pull over.
Were you driving rather slow or for the road? What time of day/night was it? What was your demeanor to the cop? Were your eyes blood shot or ANYTHING suspicious? If so, he may have every right to look in the car, except for the trunk. That requires a warrant.
Did he just confiscate it, or arrest you?
Link below is more info on the 4th amendment, and has a lawyer directory.
Where was the paraphenelia, BTW?

Yeah, you totally need a good lawyer. Cops do have to obtain your permission to search your car unless they have probable cause for doing so (like, if they stop you and weed smoke rolls out of your car when you roll the window down--that would be probable cause right there). The thing is, cops will often phrase their request to search your car in the form of a statement, to get you to think you really have no choice. Like, they'll say (not ask, but just say) "Sir, I'm going to have to search your car now, mmmkay..." And people unwittingly sigh "ooooookay" as they hang their heads. Boom. You just gave permission.

to determine legality you would need to provide more information?
did he frisk you (for weapons)?
where was the paraphernalia?
were you just going to get a citation or were you arrested for traffic violation***cops run tags they know usually before they stop you if they are expired...it is really not that easy to read the little stickers, try it.
did you give him consent?
DID YOUR CAR SMELL OF DOPE???
that one is usually a reason that cops search...and often creates confusion by the person that gets busted. if you smoke reefer in your car chances are you can't or just don't notice it.
the things i listed are what would need to be known to best answer your question.

If there was a valid sticker on the tags, it sounds like a pretextual stop, which has been repeatedly condemned by the court. But good luck arguing that point without either a good lawyer or the ability to cite a bunch of relevant case law from memory.

Why did you let him in your car??
Never ever let a cop look into your car!! If he needs to talk to you get out of your car and LOCK your car up! If he asks to look in the trunk say NO.
You are screwed sorry to say! You allowed that cop to look into your car, if you did not the cop would have never been able to enter your car....
Sorry, good luck

Yalk to a lawyer nad give him all the details you didn't write here he will ask for those. If you didn't give him readon or permission it is a civil rights violation. Start with a complaint to his department head after you win in court. Then you could sue.

I was pulled over for that too several times when I was younger. It's called being young. When you turn 30 you will have a different look on things and be happy they are risking their lives for your protection.
PS Firefighters risk their lives too. Girls flash them your gratitude.

This story is incomplete. You've obviously left out a lot of details. Bottom line is that there were illegal items in your vehicle and now you're looking for a way out. Just another person who doesn't want to be responsible for their actions.
