This is a simple definition of culture test:
Isolation of an organism (Pathogens) which cause illness in the body is called culture.
Here are a few examples of culture which are performed;
Sputum for diseases of lungs e.g AFB in TB of lungs.
Throat swab for the infective organism/s of throat, tonsils etc.
H.Pylori for chronic pain in abdomen (causing duodenal ulcer).
Urine culture in urinary tract infection.
High vaginal swab for infection of cervix e.g leucorrhea.
Stool for any infection of intestines.
Blood for unresponsive fever to treatment.
Other specialized tests are done after operation e.g. Appendicetomy, Ostoemylitis or tissue excised or pus drained from any part of the body for histopathology and culture and sensitivity.
REMEMBER CULTURE ALONE IS USELESS WITHOUT SENSITIVITY TESTING also written as C/S (testing) as we can find out which antibiotic is best for that organism/s.
Hope answered your question.

Could be a culture of any number of body specimens, stool, urine,sputum, blood ,spinal fluid etc. that is watched for 3 days in a controlled lab setting to see if any bacteria grow from it. Then if it is positive for bacteria it is treated with different antibiotics to determine susceptibility.

A blood culture test is positive if a bacteria or fungus grows on a petri dish (which is just a dish of simple food)

Usually you will just have to collect some feces that has not been in contact with anything else. So, you may have to collect a piece of feces on a piece of paper, and use a sterile stick to put it into the cup.
