the record highest temperature ever measured in the U.S (134 degrees F at Death Valley, CA in July of 1913), and the hottest temperature ever recorded anywhere on the globe (136 F at Al' Aziziyah, Libya in September of 1922) occurred well before global warming was a buzzword, and despite the recent series of warm years, globally, these records have not seriously threatened.

Was it 2006? I bet so! Last summer, here where I live in California, we saw 120 degrees! And I've been here my whole life, never saw it over 118 until last summer. And no, I don't live anywhere near the Mojave Desert or Death Valley! We had so many power outages and old folks die because they can't afford to run their air conditioners, it was sooo sad! Local cities have now developed "cooling centers," which are public facilities with air conditioning that the elderly and poor can go to stay cool when it's hot outside. Heat stroke and exhaustion are too common here in the summer!

2006. And every one of the 20 hottest years on record has occured in the last 25 years.

Globally every one of the hottest years on record has also occured recently and 2007 has got off to the hottest ever start; if it continues the same way then 2007 will become the hottest ever year.

I bet you wanted me to answer something like 1927 or 1853. Sorry to disappoint but facts are facts.

Global warming is actually causing some places to cool, as melting Antarctic ice gets into the gulf stream. So you're strawman comes tumbling down, as your republican Faux News talking points lack any kind of real evidence.

I'm so sick of hearing about Global warming.
The GWF ie. Global Warming Fanatics are like a broken record that won't stop replaying itself over and over again eventhough nobody wants to listen to it.
If their so worried about it why don't they colonize the moon and go live there?
At least then the rest of us would have some peace.
