He's written a book with God in the title-what is his stance in this book?

Hitchens believes that religion has been used to control and manipulate people throughout history. He says something like, religion is the only philosophy that posits you are born ill and then orders you to get well.
He believes that religion cows people into behaving certain ways and accepting leaders. He believes in absolute reason and humanism. All of the good things that can be attributed to religion (faith, kindness, social movements) can all be reached logically through a humanistic philosophy. All the bad things (intolerance, war, the inquisition) are reached by people using the faithful in order to gain power. He is not an atheist, as much as an anti-theist. Hope this helps.

I think his basic philosophy is that of a 'contrarian,' meaning he doesn't think one view of life HAS to go with another. For example, you can be AGAINST abortion, but against the views of others who are against abortion. In short, he believes you should take each issue as it stands and decide for yourself where you stand, and not identify yourself with any school of politics or political party.
