Speaking from experience, it is possible. Even though I've been a "church kid" all my life I still had to come to a point where I had to make a decision whether I was going to live my own life or whether I was going to make Christ my Lord & Savior, & the focal point of my lifestyle.
The key to this being possible is repentance. Jesus Himself came to call sinners to repentance. Repentance is the admission from your heart that you are a sinner and that with God's help, you will turn 180 degrees and follow Him instead of pursue a sinful life. Its only by His grace that I was saved and changed from the sinner I was once. Once I realised that He died a cruel & painful death to pay the price for my sin, I truly wanted my lifestyle to change! I wanted to give my life to Him because He gave His life for me.
Also when you come to Christ, a spiritual change takes place and as apostle Paul said, "Its no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me". Of course its not always easy making a 180 degree turn from the lifestyle you're used to, in fact it would be impossible if Christ didn't get involved!!! But thank God He does begin to help You to change as you start to pray, read the bible and build a relationship with Him.
So just to summarize my response, yes, its possible to change instantly thru repentance because you go from being spiritually dead to a completely regenerate spiritual being, and then gradually God begins to change you in many other ways as you develop a relationship with Him.

There is an answer to that in the Bible, I cannot remember exactly where that says the faith of one who has heard the Word and quickly embraced it is a fickle one that does not stay true in the face of any oppression. So, it is only a shallow, superficial change. I don't have my Bible with me, but I'll add that section later when I find it.

Sometimes that happens but honestly, most of the time it doesn't. The main thing is to ask Jesus into your heart and to forgive you of your sins. Then you have to let Jesus clean you up and the way you do that is by praying for the Lord to help you with things that aren't of Him. Just begin to focus on Christ and doing things He would want you to do and pray about the other things and give it to God.

Because when one excepts CHRIST as their personal savior, the SPIRIT of the LIVING GOD indwells their spirit and abides their...changing them for the better from the inside out.
No one can know what this is like except by experience...no one can have this experience except by grace...no one can receive this grace apart from faith...you will only truly understand this when you yield to GOD THRU CHRIST.
~GOD BLESS YOU AND LEAD YOU INTO ALL TRUTH~
