My amp keeps overheating(Power Acoustik ps2-600)
I think it may be an issue of impedance
its supposed to be two ohm stable
I have one kicker cvr10 dual 2 ohm sub
can anyone tell me the proper way to wire this sub to the amp
thanks

Your amp overheats because your current setting give an impedance of 1 ohms. since its DVC 2 ohms, you can't set it at 2 ohms, just 1ohm or 4 ohms. Connect them in series to get 4 ohms which will sound better because of the quality.

The amp is 2-ohm stable, but not in bridged mode. When it's bridged, you can't connect an impedance under 4 ohms.

Your best option is to wire the voice coils in series. This will give you a final impedance of 4 ohms. My guess is that you currently have it wired in parallel, which presents a 1-ohm load to the amplifier.

if the sub is the dual 2 ohm then you would wire each coil to each channel of the amp (left coil positive to left ch positive and left coil neg to left ch neg and repeat on other ch and coil) or you can wire the coils in series and run the amp at 4 ohm mono.
what might be causing it to overheat is not a good enough ground or the power and ground wire are to small.what gauge wire r u using

To find out how it's possible to wire the sub for max output from amp w/ out overheating, use this calculator:
http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp

Use this to determine the gauge of your power/ground wires, based on the size of the fuse on your amp as well as how long they are:

Good Luck!

Wire the sub like so http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/sparky3489/SERIES-DUAL.jpg for a 4 ohm load.
