How come Guantanamo base is in Cuba? Why hasn't Fidel Castro thrown the US out? How long has the base been there...?

The U.S. first obtained a lease on the land after the Spanish-America War in 1898. In 1903, The U.S. was granted a perpetual lease on the land by Tomás Estrada Palma, an American citizen, who became the first President of Cuba.

Because it is a bit of land leased on a long-term basis from a time before Castro was in charge of Cuba.
Basically the US hold on to it, and in doing so there is no violation of international law. Remember the US ruled Cuba for a while after the Spanish/American law (they obtained other territories such as the Philippines as well).
Castro would only be able to take it back by force, which would be just the excuse the US would want to go in and take back Cuba.

As some *** hole gave this lands lease to USA . Long before Castro was probably born. Therefore he is not responsible for USA being there as we all know what USA is capable of it would be foolish of Castro to try to take the land of USA accept through UN route which USA has a veto it would veto any UN resolution as it does willy nilly for it`s so called friend Israel.

sndemailhere is correct. And for those who think it's about money, we only pay $2000 a year for the lease. I haven't been able to verify it yet but I think that since Castro came to power he has yet to cash any of the checks.

All i elect for Christmas is my 2 front tooth ( I had an twist of fate years in the past and the front have porcelin caps that should be replaced in approximately 2 months while i'm going to have stored sufficient funds to interchange them!)

Probably because Fidel has been paid monster numbers of US Dollars which are now stuffed in his personal secret numbered Swiss Bank account.

An American puppet regime gave the base to the US. Castro wasn't stupid enough to attack US troops/interests directly during his revolution.
