Hi all,
I have been in a relationship with an aussie for 5 years now. I am from europe. My partner didnt like Europe while he was visiting my family ( i cant blame him lol) so we decided to live in oz. I arrived on a visitor visa with my oldest son. We had to save some money for the visa application cost so I stayed on my visitor visa for 10 months. I got pregnant and by the time my visa was running out the immigration office decided to put me on a "medical visa", they said after the baby was born here in australia to apply for a defacto visa because it would be easier then. So we did what they suggested. A week after my second was born we made him australian.
We went back to the immigration office to apply for my defacto visa, they said there wouldnt be any problems and I would have it before the visa i was on would ran out. Ater 3 weeks we received a letter saying i couldnt get the visa because i didnt had "full custody" of my oldest son and that i had to leave the country with my oldest son. I couldnt take my newborn baby with me (he was only 2 months) because he didnt had a paaport yet. Yes people THEY ASKED ME TO LEAVE MY NEWBORN CHILD!!!! All i could do was cry!
I felt (and still do) that i couldnt leave my youngest son behind so we decided to overstay my visa untill we got a paaport for our son and then we would leave straight away. Wich we did. I am barred for 5 years so we have to stay outside the country for 5 years even my partner and son are australian since birth!!
Now my question is, was it so wrong from me to stay illegal? I had no work, no payment benefits, NOTHING!!! So the tax payer didnt spend a single penny on me!
I just wanna say that been illegal is wrong, everybody knows that but people, not all of the illegals are bastards ore after money. Sometimes the goverment leaves you no choice.
I WILL NEVER LEAVE MY BABY BEHIND AND I RECKON EVERY MUM WILL AGREE WITH ME ON THIS.
Thanks

The reason this immigration problem is so rampant is there have not been enough folks speaking out about the problem,if it is insulting to some..so be it.
This problem should be at the fore front and be addressed at the polls this election.

True. And possibly this problem can't be solved at all. It's been a growing problem for a long time, and there is no easy solution. The illegals bring both advantages and disadvantages and both pro and cons on immigration have strong arguments.

Illegal Immigration is a "HOT" topic my friend!
Until we come up with a "workable" policy, those who are here in the US legally have a right to say how they feel and what they want for their country...Insults are never ok, but we don't have to be door-mats for people who don't have the consideration for our country or it's people, our economy, our health care system, our educational system, etc...People who are in our country (United States) illegally have "NO" right to say anything about what we say or do in our country....If they want to voice their opinions they should go back to where they came from and voice them...!!...If they want to stay in the United States, they should do it legally and not "Bash" the country they are trying so desperatley to live in....If they don't like it, why DO they want to live here? If it's so great where they come from, why are they leaving? AND, what's up with the American's who want to hide them? ...I say, If you want an illegal to live here, trade places with them and go back to where they are from if our country is so bad.....
Now, do you consider what I just said racism or anger? If you do, is it because I don't agree with you? Yes? Perhaps you are the angry racist, not me!

I am against individual attacks, but racist statements sometimes are revealing. How are you going to stop prejudice if you don't understand it. Racist slurs , I agree though.

I don't see how defending and securing our borders is a racist issue. It's a security issue and it's about enforcing the law.

I haven't insulted anyone except the President for not enforcing and funding laws that are already on the books.
