If the store is a speciality store, there's a good chance they will pack it in dry ice for you. Make sure the store is your last stop, and drive straight home without stopping! (-:.
The stores here in Japan will often include a little cube of dry ice when you buy ice cream, and the stuff stays frozen for at least an hour. I usually keep the ice cream, dry ice and any other frozen stuff in a cooler, and keep the car air conditioned.
Good luck! And congrats on finding the ice cream!

Traveling in a car with dry ice can be a problem. You might try using a large insulated cooler, and a bunch of those blue re-freezable "ice packs"...maybe a dozen or so. Surround the ice cream carton on all sides.
And then, when you get there, beg the local grocer to carry that brand of ice cream!

A big cooler and a few bags of ice. is the best way,, NEVER KEEP DRY ICE IN A CAR, #1 If its in a air tight container it could explode, #2 dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide, witch means it will take place of the oxygen and possible suffocate you inside a car!!

Order and ask for delivery. Just pay a little bit more.
That's if you can't get a cooler to store..

Take a cooler along with you. It should keep it cold for that amount of time.
