I want to eat a lot of fruits, vegetables

I live alone and spend $30-50 a week on food, depending on what I buy of course. I eat a lot of organic (almost twice as spendy as non-organic stuff), and a lot of fresh veggies/fruit/bread/hummus. I eat about 2 meals outside of home each week, which can be $5-10 apiece (gotta have the occasional pizza!), and then there's coffee/tea/juices which can be another $20 if you're not careful...!

So I would say, set aside at least $100 a month for food, if you don't want to eat Ramen all the time! I usually go to the store once a week (because fresh veggies only last about that long), so on this plan, you would spend $25 on that trip......I would consider that a little tight, but it is do-able (considering I just paid $6 for 6 tomatoes!).

By the way, I am a vegetarian, so meat is not figued into this calculation. However, I do eat cheese and put milk in my coffee. (Animal products are generally more expensive than vegetable products).

Good luck!

Mk, yes, as eveyone says it obviously does depend. Hpwever, if you really want to know an answer so that you can estimate how much money you'll need to buy groceries, I'd recommend looking in the paper at the sale ads tfor the grocery stores. They list prices of most major things, especially fruits and veggies and you could add up the prices of the things you think you would buy. As far as how much stuff you would eat... well, you probably know if you need to eat alot or not so much. Like, wold you say you'd eat 1 apple a week or one every day? You could also go with one of your parents/ guardians shopping make some mental notes as to how much everytihng costs. Another suggestion is look at their receipt. Ps...Dont forget to figure in toilet paper and stuff like that. And, obviously the ocasional Mickie D's run..

;)

depends on the cost of food and what you like to eat, what's in season, and if you indulge. I'd say as rough estimate is about between 45-75 dollars per week if you are buying a lot of fresh food. Try keeping track of what you spend on average. What I do, is shop once per week and try to buy enough food for only the week. This way, I can judge how much our family eats in a week and how much I need to spend to feed us. HOpe it helps.

depending on your appetite $50+/- week

it doesn't have to be costly. check the local food markets for local growers. the prices are lower usually for produce at such places. frozen veggies are just as nutritious as fresh. proteins are the most expensive items. lots of frozen fish to choose from these days. cooking whole chickens and turkeys saves some time preparing meals and some cash. nuts and seeds you can buy in bulk at places like Whole Foods, etc. also check places like the Dollar Store, etc. some have tons of food items like cheap tuna and other canned seafood

On the average, without going out, probably $200 a month. That is just basic no fancy food.

300 per month will do ... My advice is just go to the store and buy 1 weeks worth of stuff you like see if it last a week then multiply by 4.2 as in weeks/ mo. Less if your a smart/bulk shopper.

it cost as much or more for one person as it does for two.
not much stuff is made for one person . so just find some couple with no kids who eat like you and ask them .

It would depend on how you prefer your meals. Do you cook or do you buy? If you want to save, it's better to prepare your own meals.
