Think about your hands for a while, Do they just sit idly by doing nothing all day? Do they roll up into a fist when someone says something hurtfull or does something to upset you? Do they reach out to slap people who say offensive things? How about when a person cuts you off on the road, does your left hand tend to raise up in the air with your middle finger extended? Do they touch things they are not supposed to, like other peoples body parts, even your own for self gratification? These are just a few of the things our hands were not made for. Our hands were made to perform work so we could earn a living, to sooth a hurting friend or child. They are made to discipline and correct, to hold and show love. Our hands are for comunicating, giving and receiving. Our hands should be made rough from the labor of our lives yet soft for comforting, wiping away tears and loving.
What we do with our hands is just a small part of living a holy life seperated for Him, or living in sin.

Amen and Amen again Brother stone.
As Christians we should be using your hands to help others and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.
I use my hands to hugs people to write encouraging letters to cook meals and Steadfast uses his hands to work hard for a living and to serve the Lord in all he does.
God convicted me of sticking my middle finger to those that have cut me off on the road and know I just take a deep breath and pray for them.
We should glorify God in ALL we do thank you for this excellent post here are some hugs for you and your wife and your familyooooooooooooooooooFrom E4G and Steadfast7
PS You are growing in the Lord that is a blessing and an encouragement to us both and we do pray for you.

Well I try not to beat myself up too much for the things I do with my hands that aren't favorable to Him because though I am a Christian and try like heck to live my life in a righteous manner for Him I am human and I make mistakes.
But I would say that most of time is spent serving and helping others. I am a caregiver for a living and a servant of God before and after work. So my hands are not idle and I hug a lot of folks and help the elderly daily and also I crochet. Everything I make ends up given away. That isn't always my intention when I start a project but it just sort of happens.
This is another daily moral inventory for us again. Thanx.

Aye, they serve, though they serve nature not humanity. I culture my plants, I wipe away food and dirt from day old hatchlings. I thump the cats when they need a correction and they've been warned verbally. I pet and cover cold pet birds and wipe away infections in a pet's eye. I feed the animals and clean their cages even though it does feel like a pain some days. I write and educate people on proper pet care and write to change attitudes about animals in a throw away society. I write to support conservation efforts and reach out to pick up things off the street which should be recycled. My hands have done good and bad, but I try to focus on the good.

Yeah, they work pretty well, thanks. Have to worry a little about CT from all the typing, crocheting and knitting, but as long as I'm careful.....Don't have to worry about it too much right now cause most of the crocheting and knitting I do is for charity in the winter (blankets, hats and scarves for the homeless and needy).

Yes my hands are serving Him....especially as I pray while I'm answering questions....and type what He tells me to type....sometimes I don't understand why I'm answering or praying a certain way, but He knows and I have to be a willing vessel for Him to use. Jesus-with-skin on. Like for hugging the kids at church tonight. And I pray He continues to use me.

TRANSLATION
One who restrains his senses and fixes his consciousness upon Me, is known as a man of steady intelligence.
PURPORT
That the highest conception of yoga perfection is Krsna consciousness is clearly explained in this verse. And, unless one is Krsna conscious, it is not at all possible to control the senses. As cited above, the great sage Durvasa Muni picked a quarrel with Maharaja Ambarisa, and Durvasa Muni unnecessarily became angry out of pride and therefore could not check his senses. On the other hand, the king, although not as powerful a yogi as the sage, but a devotee of the Lord, silently tolerated all the sage's injustices and thereby emerged victorious. The king was able to control his senses because of the following qualifications, as mentioned in the Srimad-Bhagavatam:
sa vai manah krsna-padaravindayor
vacamsi vaikuntha-gunanuvarnane
karau harer mandira-marjanadisu
srutim cakaracyuta-sat-kathodaye
mukunda-lingalaya-darsane drsau
tad-bhrtya-gatra-sparse 'nga-sangamam
ghranam ca tat-pada-saroja-saurabhe
srimat-tulasya rasanam tad-arpite
padau hareh ksetra-padanusarpane
siro hrsikesa-padabhivandane
kamam ca dasye na tu kama-kamyaya
yathottama-sloka-janasraya ratih
"King Ambarisa fixed his mind on the lotus feet of Lord Krsna, engaged his words in describing the abode of the Lord, his hands in cleansing the temple of the Lord, his ears in hearing the pastimes of the Lord, his eyes in seeing the form of the Lord, his body in touching the body of the devotee, his nostrils in smelling the flavor of the flowers offered to the lotus feet of the Lord, his tongue in tasting the tulasi leaves offered to Him, his legs in traveling to the holy place where His temple is situated, his head in offering obeisances unto the Lord, and his desires in fulfilling the desires of the Lord... and all these qualifications made him fit to become a mat-parah devotee of the Lord." (Bhag. 9.4.18-20)
The word mat-parah is most significant in this connection. How one can become a mat-parah is described in the life of Maharaja Ambarisa. Srila Baladeva Vidyabhusana, a great scholar and acarya in the line of the mat-parah, remarks: "mad-bhakti-prabhavena sarvendriya-vijaya-purvika svatma-drstih sulabheti bhavah." "The senses can be completely controlled only by the strength of devotional service to Krsna." Also, the example of fire is sometimes given: "As the small flames within burn everything within the room, similarly Lord Visnu, situated in the heart of the yogi, burns up all kinds of impurities." The Yoga-sutra also prescribes meditation on Visnu, and not meditation on the void. The so-called yogis who meditate on something which is not the Visnu form simply waste their time in a vain search after some phantasmagoria. We have to be Krsna conscious--devoted to the Personality of Godhead. This is the aim of the real yoga.
