I am writing a story in spanish and i am trying to say: They instantly fell in love. :: But I have trouble with imperfect and past tense. would it be: En seguida se enamoraban. or would it be: En seguida se enamoraron

en seguida se enamoraron although instantly would be better translated as "inmediatamente" or "instantaneamente"
i.e. They instantly fell in love = (ellos) inmediatamente se enamoraron or instantaneamente se enamoraron
she saw something terrible = (ella) vio algo terrible

"They instantly fell in love" = "se enamoraron instantáneamente".
"She saw something terrible" = It depends on the duration of the action. If you are talking about a short action, something that happened once and the action finished, you must say 'vio' = "(Ella) vio algo horrible"
By the way the imperfect of 'ver' is 'veÃa'.

se enamoraron because it was something that happened in the past and ended whereas the imperfect is when something was ongoing for a while.
and it would also be "vio" because it was the past
