Ancient people had their own religion but most of those religions do not exist in our modern society. For example, the Europeans imposed their religion on the Native Americans (from North America to South America ) to the point where most of the American continent believes in Christianity.
I feel there is some kind of injustice in that. Especially considering that ancient religions are in fact closer to the Creator with regards to time.

Most ancient religions ended when the civilization that invented it was conquered by a foreign nation who imposed theirs. The fear of being slaughtered is a good incentive to abandon old beliefs. Plus, new generations are raised on new beliefs and are unfamiliar with the old ones. The "new ways" are taught at school, at the temple, at work, etc.
Christianity became the official religion for the Roman Empire in the early centuries AD. Romans had conquered most of Europe, Asia Minor, and the north of Africa. That is why the Catholic Church is called the Roman Catholic Chrurch. Since Europe has not been conquered by non European civilizations it remained Christian. The North of Africa was conquered by muslims and that is why the nations of the north of Africa are muslim. Muslims conquered the Middle East. Europeans conquered America. etc.

ancient religions used to explain the cycles of the earth...example, now that science has explained that it's the rotation of the earth that makes the sun rise and set, most do not see the point in believing that a Greek god pulled it across the sky by charriot, etc...
Whatever the case that Christianity is the most popular US religion (it's only 3rd in the world last I saw), I personally think that the older religions based around explaining the earth like Native Americans and others do just doesn't really "fit in" with western society's views given the advances in science and technology and other areas.
But people are entitled to believe whatever, and popular beliefs should not interfere with one's religion.

Because the ancient religions lost their power to control the sheeple. Modern religions were invented to take their places.

In part because Chritianity was not going to have any part of any religion surviving that disgreed with it, so its leaders went ahead and slaughtered, burned, tortured and murdered thousands of followers of the old religions.
Unspeakable murders against the thousands, in the name of saying "I'm right because my religion is the only way." What a horror!

Today's " religions" ( ways of living or life) are design for Today's conveniences, which were tailored to simply allow Today's rulers to get away with
Today's gluttony.

There is only one truth that Jesus spoke to us as borne along by God his Father through the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, I speak nothing of my own initiative, but just as that One taught me, so I speak these things. Only the truth will prevail, that is why so many religions no longer exist. And soon, God is going to have the rest of false religions removed forever.

Unless unless you have a relationship with GOD through JESUS all our good works,religious acts are nothing.But when we have JESUS we need to walk in the ways in the bible.

We are created in his image and we ought to be with him.But we have a choice whether to be with him or not with him.JESUS loves you.He wants you to be saved??.
John 3:16[kjv] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with his blood.
With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.

Because you must have a certain # of followers, have a specific set of beliefs, ext. in order to be an "official" religion
