I like the masculine look of the Nissan Exterra but I know that Toyota is more reliablle. Do you know how reliable Nissan is as compared to toyota?

If you're not overly concerned about gas mileage, I would go with the Xterra.

The new Rav4s do come with an available 6cyl engine. I would not have bought one before the major redesign on the 07 model year but I think this one has really turned the tables. Its bigger than the previous and Im sure it drives much more like a car than the Xterra does. The Xterra does get more points for being a masculine looking vehicle and the 265hp engine. There are many Toyota vehicles owned by members of my family all of which have never had any problems. I own a Nissan, also of which has had no problems. I believe that the choice is up to you and you should buy which one you like more becuase the reliablity should not be a big issue between these two vehicles.

the Xterra SE is a much better vechile then the Rav 4. When the rav 4 released its first model it was as if it could be blown off the road and flipped easier then a jeep. If you want a car with saftey I would go with a valvo or nissan. but if i had to choose between the too its a no brainer. Take the Xterra SE. If you want a rav 4 get a jeep.

No question people "think" Toyota Is reliable. But Xterria is Motor trend 4x4 of the year 4.0 V-6 with 265 horsepower decent gas mileage. VS Toyota Rave 4 4 cyl engine and front wheel drive. The Nissan Is not a imposter off road truck. Rave 4 is a unitized body Corrola with greater ground clearence. The Xterria is a Titan truck frame and is much stronger. I might think a better toyota comparison would be the FJ vs Xterria. The FJ suffers from weird rear doors and lack of visibility to the rear.

I have a nissan xterra and my dad has a rav 4! ironic question! toyota is always known to be "better" which in some ways they are becasue the resale value is greater...I LOVE my X! the new ones are awesome ( I had a 01 before) and they run good and last! the resale isn't as good as a Honda or a toyota...and they are actual off road cars then a honda or toyota...so if you get the kick to run into a riverbend or truck it up a huge hill go for it! don't do that in a rav though! or your friend with the X will have to pull you out! lol! and I used mine to tow back a car (my bf wreaked) from another town! they are awesome cars trucks whatever you want to call them! and the new ones have killer soundsystem in them with the subwoofer under your seat!

I even have an 07 CRV and am very pleased with it. although, genuinely the two Toyotas and Hondas are equivalent in value, reliability, resale. according to danger purely turn a coin, heavily they're that close. i'm going to assert the hot physique kind of the CRV is somewhat "boring" and the Rav stil has the somewhat rugged look. in case you choose something REALY astounding, look into the hot Toyota FJ cruiser. it is going to run approximately $3k extra then the CRV or RAv precise equiped, yet dang what a advantageous rig!
