You will have to fill out a DA 4651-R and both unit commanders will have to sign it. The losing unit commander authorizing your release, and the gaining unit commande accepting you. Then your losing unit will process the transaction through your chain of command to the USARC (United States Army Reserve Command) to perform the transfer. If everyone one is on their game and available for signatures, it should only take a couple of days. Even if you in Texas now drilling with your new unit you can perform RST's (Rescheduled Training) on DA 1380's and forward them to your losing unit to process your pay until the transaction is completed.

You need to find a unit that you can join. The Army Reserve recruiter in the area can help you. You don't necessarily have to have a specific MOS, but if they don't have yours, they might ask you to reclassify. And they have the option of turning you down if you don't have an MOS they need and don't want to have you on the rolls as non-MOSQ while you reclass. Your losing unit 'might' be of some help, but many don't want to waste the time on anyone that is leaving. If you can't find a unit within 50 miles of your new location, you can transfer to the IRR.

You have to have a reserve chain of command. You need to get in touch with them.
