Where can i get a codec that will allow me to play avi files on my computer?

I use RealPlayer to play my AVI files with the Divx codec. That should work well for you.

Install a all-in-one codec pack.
Its also called as Klite media player, it has all most all the codec's in it. download and install it on the computer and everything should be fine ......

grab a free copy of vlc media player. forget about windows media player. vlc will play anything you throw at it.
