The only way to build your tolerance is through drinking. If you seriously want to tolerate more, you have to drink heavily and keep pushing your limits. It's no different than running, weight lifting, etc. I know this because I used to play college basketball and I would never drink during season but drank/partied heavily out of season. As soon as the season ended, I couldn't handle any booze and it would take me about a month of steady drinking to get my tolerance up.
Also, one other thing, if you drink a lot in areas with high elevation and then travel to an area with a lower elevation, you will be able to tolerate more alcohol. For example, I live in Colorado where the elevation is 5,280 feet and my tolerance is average compared to my friends here. However, I travelled to Vegas last week for a bachelor party and met up with all my cousin's friends who are mostly from New York City (a city with no elevation) and I could outdrink all of them.

Change your drinking styles. Eat, drink slower, don't be laying down, and you'll be less of a lightweight. Chugg on an empty stomach and jump around to be even more of a lightweight.

You have to eat before you go out drinking. Your body really only builds up a tolerance over time though.

you drink more and more frequently. Wouldn't recommend it, being a lightweight is a good thing. I used to drink heavily and I can tell you first hand you don't want to go down that road. It is only recommended to drink 1 glass of alcohol per day, as any more will cause cirrhosis of the liver among other things.

you really can't..... check it
eat A LOT first. then drink
or
drink every day like I did to do the same thing(I was about 19).
drinking every day helps you build a tolerance.
after about 2 years of that, I found myself drinking about a case to myself over the period of about a night without getting sick.
Now I'm 30 years old and am an alcoholic. I'll drink 2 cases or 1.5 liters of whiskey
I'm trying to stop/cut down and its finally working but it still comes back to me every once in a while
awww did I get a thumbs down because I'm an alcoholic? someone doesn't like reality to much.
believe me, don't turn to alcohol. Its not going to help you in ANY way. stay a lightweight
I could own my own club/bar with all the money I pissed into the toilet

The more you drink, the more immune you become BUT it will attack key organs in your body namely your liver and brain cells.
