Satan was created as a holy angel. Isaiah 14:12 possibly gives Satan’s pre-fall name as Lucifer. Ezekiel 28:12-14 describes Satan as having been created a cherubim, and was apparently the highest created angel. He became arrogant in his beauty and status, and decided he wanted to sit on a throne above that of God (Isaiah 14:13-14; Ezekiel 28:15; 1 Timothy 3:6). Satan’s pride led to his fall. Notice the many “I will…” statements in Isaiah 14:12-15. Because of his sin, God threw Satan out of heaven.
Satan became the ruler of this world that functions apart from God, and the prince of the power of the air (John 12:31; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 2:2). He is an accuser (Revelation 12:10), a tempter (Matthew 4:3; 1 Thessalonians 3:5), and a deceiver (Genesis 3; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 20:3). His very name means adversary or “one who opposes.” Another name used for Satan, the devil, means “slanderer.”

Satan, Lucifer, devil are one and the same. Satan comes from the word Sa-Satan which means opponent. Remember the Bible was translated from three languages, Greek (New Testament), Hebrew, and Aramaic (Old testament). In fact Jesus is the Greek translation of the Aramaic Yeshua which means "God Saves". Jesus spoke Aramaic and/or Greek because Greek was the universal language for the known world and Aramaic was more popular for the Jews

In the Bible, they are all the same, but if you are not a Bible believer you may accept whatever you want.
Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
Lucifer is the one who is thrown down.

Satan is gods servant (atleast in the old testament) aka the devil
Lucifer is commonly confused with Satan due to a bad translation in some of the bibles. "How art thou fallen from heaven O Lucifer, son of the morning"
This refers to Nebuchadnezzaer who was the king of Babylon.
Also, I am disturbed by the number of people who think Satan and Lucifer are the same. Really people, if you are going to be a christian, atleast know your religion.
Wikipedia for the mentally challenged
"Ha-satan is called Baal Davar[4] by Chasidic Jews of the eighteenth century, so this could also be taken as a name for Satan. Lucifer is sometimes mistakenly used in Christian theology to refer to Satan, from a reference to Isaiah 14:12-14. Though other Christians suggest that in context it referred to none other than the King of Babylon himself, having figuratively fallen from heaven and ate grass like an ox.[citation needed]
In Jewish theology, this figure (Helel in Hebrew) has nothing to do with Satan. It is generally agreed among Rabbinical sources that Isaiah was in fact referring to King Nebuchadnezzar. Beelzebub (meaning "Lord of Flies") is actually the name of a Philistine god, but is also used in the New Testament as a synonym for Satan. A corrupted version, "Belzeboub," is used in the The Divine Comedy."

Lucifer was one of God's favorite top Angels, who betrayed him, so God threw him out of heaven, and renamed him Satan.
