Yes, I personally call myself a Latter-Day Saint, and people act VERY differently than when you say you are Mormon. There is still, to this day, a certain stigma that is endured my members of the Mormon/LDS church. Good question!

Why attack them? Everyone i have come in contact with has been very nice and extremely helpful. I'm not mormon, but there were a couple of families on my block and one families boys would mow my lawn without me asking when they had to mow there own. And one of the girls would babysit and sometimes not charge us, and clean the house while she was doing it! They have always been very kind and generous to me and i admire them. There is no reason to poke fun at good people.

Yes, the LDS church should change its name, but not to what you suggest.
As long as the LDS church denies the deity of Jesus, they should delete the use of His name from theirs.

Rule number one, do not offer changes on behave of others. I am sure they have very capable and intelligent people.
Now tackle the situation:

LDS Lather Day Saints
LSD Lather Saints Day
