Big brains. They have language and communicate. They are social and cooperate with each other. The care for, adopt and protect each other (and us sometimes!) They don't harm one another, or the environment. They enjoy the company of other intelligent creatures. The play and have fun, and aside from humans poisoning them and polluting their environment, they really have no enemies. Even sharks don't bother them.

I don't believe in a "chosen creature." Our separation from God, nature, and each other is nothing more than an illusion anyway.

If dolphins are God's chosen creatures, then that would be fine. Granted, a lot of people would have to change their theology some, but if God showed us this were true, then I would be all for embracing. Having said that, though, I have to say that until I can literally speak and interpret dolphin myself, and until I can read history upon history of dolphin society so that the history can prove to me that dolpins are as benevolent and wise as science asserts. Yes, I believe that they ARE very intelligent and benevolent! But that does not prove to me that I should accept them as the chosen of God. Can we learn lessons from things and creatures in nature? Sure, all of the time! And we should! We also should learn lessons from children, from people from different ethnic backgrounds and different philosophies or religions. We should take what is good and leave the rest.
As to poisoning the environment, I agree: This is one way we BLEW it when God gave us dominion over everything. We were supposed to be the ulitmate farmers. And farmers LOVE their animals. So this is travesty against the assignment God entrusted to Adam as the Father of mankind. It makes me sad every day, and we should seek to correct it, and see that ALL of God's creatures, human and otherwise are treated with honor, respect, dignity and love.

We still have to stick to one another as role models to emulate, since we are humans and can not fully live in the domain of the dolphin. But as I said before, we should seek to emulate whatever is truly good wherever we find it. And someday in heaven we will give an apology before God and His angels for all of His creatures we've mistreated! Like you, it breaks God's heart what we have done.

Yes ... but they eat fish. This means that they survive by killing and eating things that are smaller and weaker than themselves. I wouldn't call that much of a role-model! Humans, being omnivorous, at least have a CHOICE! We can choose to survive by killing and eating innocent and helpless creatures over which we exercise a considerable advantage through our intellect and opposable thumbs, or we can choose to survive by killing and eating plants which have no thoughts or feelings ... at least I don't think they do ... hmmmm.

Still, given the choice, I'll have my steak medium rare please! So I guess I'm no better than those vile, murdering dolphins after all! God's chosen creatures ... don't make me laugh. God's chosen creature is probably a turnip.

well, according to the bible, (I'm agnostic) Jesus was the son of god right. well, human too in a way I guess(or at least looked like one, but humans where created in the form of god too, right so, then humans would probably be more likely the chosen creatures.

and especially since we are so greedy and vain (war, the destruction of the environment, loss of rights to make way for major corps..ect....ect)
WE HAVE to be the chosen creature. plus if we found out we weren't we would have killed the dolphins out of envy or pride

I think if we let dolphins run for office, the world would change for the better over night, except it might smell a lot more like fish

If there's a God (i'm no longer asserting there is not any longer, yet i'm no longer asserting there is) He would not punish homosexuals. there is not any longer something incorrect with gay people. Homosexuality is considered in over 1500 different species, yet guy is the only one to coach homophobia. that's no longer a decision, and it may't be controlled.

dolphins killing porpoises.
i watched something about it on TLC or Discovery Channel...
and theyve even shown videos of dolphins attacking humans. i dont think sharks want to mess with them, they are mean killing machines, using theyre sonar to find vital organs to target. wow i could go on and on with this... dolphins are SCARY!
if dolphins are "god's chosen creatures" then so are humans, because it seems dolphins and humans share many similar characteristics, just as the rest of the animal kingdom... war, rape, communication, alliances... yeah, you know what i mean, all creatures do this.

Highly probable. Allusions to this were made in the movies 'Cocoon' and 'Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy'. Having the sea as their world makes them more rightful owners of this water planet we call Earth.
